Suite or Concierge class on Century?

Not sure if this will help, because this was what we did on our first cruise on an "M" clas ship, the Connie. I booked a Sky Suite with the extra large balcony - 6132 (the one that everyone on your side of the ship can look down at you - smile and wave!!:D ). We loved it. But we would order from the CC Class menu, and as long as we weren't on the 9th Level on that ship (because of the overhang), we decided the next time we cruised on a "M" class we would go Concierge Class. Don't get me wrong, the Sky Suite was great, particularly the bathroom and the closet. The size was nice too. But after seeing a CC Cabin, we decided that we can live with it.

I understand that the Century has redone their CC cabins quite nicely, so it's all about location, location, location. We are probably doing the Galaxy TA and on that ship I would only do a Sky Suite.

Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps. I'm spolied.

Bear in mind that the Concierge cabins on the M-Class ships are 191 sq ft and those on Century are 172 sq ft. Sky Suites are 246 sq ft.

If it were me, I would chose a Sky Suite on the Sports Deck as they have large balconies that have some exposure from the sun above. It is a good location too. I believe they were working on extensions to the Sky, Royal and Penthouse suite balconies on the Penthouse deck following on from Century's refurb, but haven't seen any reports to confirm this has been completed. If it has then the Penthouse Deck Sky Suites will have a similar balcony size to those on the Sports Deck, but will be fully covered.

The newly refurbed cc cabins are lovely. Personally speaking, we were in one in June just after the refurb and have booked another for October this year. We did consider an SS after having one on the Connie earlier in the year, but decided the difference in price wasn't worth it and when we peeped through the doors they didn't look as nice as the newly refurbed ones hence our decision. Just my opinion.

Ready to book cabin for 5 nights on the Century. First Celebrity cruise. Do I want the lowest class suite on the Penthouse deck, or the concierge class cabin on the Vista deck? Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi Cbowling !

The good news is, you wont go wrong with either choice. Depending on price, the Sky Suites on Deck 12 are wonderful. As Phil mentioned, the Sky Suites are much larger than the CC Cabin. If price is not an issue, that would be my first choice. If price matters, go with the Concierge Cabin.

Please let us know what you decide, and Good Luck !

I thought the CC class room we had was not worth the extra cost over a regular balcony. My friends were in a Sky Suite on 12 and the room was nice but not fabulous but the balcony was wonderful!

We got robes, flowers and canapes but nothing else and the cabin felt small. I think the shape of the bed had something to do with it.

We just got off of the Century last Saturday and had SS 1072 on the Penthouse Deck. It was wonderful!!! However...my in-laws were in a CC cabin on Deck 9 and it was brand spanking new! The CC cabin and balcony are obviously not as big...but the cabin was very nice! The bathroom in our SS was very well apointed...but kind of tight! You couldn't open the door all the way due to the toilet...so I closed the door to get ready in there. Not a major thing at all...just thought I would mention it!

You really can't go wrong in either category. The SS really was awesome...but we would probably book a CC on our next Celebrity cruise!

Good luck!

Just got off the Century( nine day holiday sailing) two weeks ago and stayed in a CC cabin. As mentioned by previous posters the cabin is no larger than other balconies and the "extras" are worth no more than $100 total to me. We have done both types of veranda cabin. If around the same price ( within $100 or so) we take the CC. Otherwise we just keep our regular veranda. One benifit is double sailing( Captain's club) credit for CC cabins if this matters to you.

The Sky Suites are much larger and have more benefits. I would take the location of the cabins into account. Our friends in a 12th floor SS loved the space but heard basketball players above thier heads and could be seen on their balcony by guests on the deck.

I'm actually returning for a five day on 1/27 without our kids, maybe I can relax this time. Feeling very lucky and spoiled.

What was their Sky Suite #, Mom? I "just" (about an hour ago) moved us from our Sky Suite on the Galaxy Transatlantc crossing to a Sky Suite on the Century Transatlantic crossing and as I am just looking at the deck plans now I don't see a basketball court, but the pictures show the netting. The last thing I want is to listen to the sound of a basketball all afternoon (although I somehow doubt this on a TA, unless it's scooter B-ball). :D We are near the front about 4 back from the elevator.

We are also doing the no-kids cruise after taking ours on a holiday cruise. I was wondering if you knew which sky suite your friends had on deck 12? We had to book 1200 as it was the only one left but I don't want a balcony that is viewable by public decks or too noisy from the basketball court. Could you advise if you remember? Thanks!

The Sky Suite aboard Century have a whirlpool on bathrooms?

Hi Nick !

From what I heard they do have a whirlpool, but there is no stall shower. If you want to shower, you have to do it in the bathtub. I remember reading a post on the Boards that said the 8 Aft Sky Suites (The 4 most Aft on each side) on Deck 12, have the same bathtub, but no whirlpools. These 8 cabins were added to Century in the revitilization.

When I am on Century again in 2 weeks, I am going to see if I can confirm if the 8 aft Sky Suites have whirlpools or not.

I heard that 1200 (mentioned above by lookingforward) and 1201 have stall showers instead of tubs and are wheelchair accessible.

Hi Lynn !

I am pretty sure you are correct about that. The only thing is, those Cabins are reserved for passengers who need that type of accessibility. I do not think those Cabins would be available for regular bookings, unless they are still available very close to the sail date. At that point, Celebrity might make them available.

Hi Andy,

My understanding is the same as yours and, as to the cabins being reserved for those needing the accessibility, rightfully so.

If this is the case then my travel agent has not informed me. We do not need a handicapped room and were not told we were booking one. This is concerning as I would not want to take a room from someone who needed it. We were booked in 1200 well over two months in advance.

You can go to the Celebrity site & do a dummy booking for your cruise to see what SS cabins are still available. When you get to the cabin selection page after clicking “Book Now”, there's a box at the top where you can type in each SS cabin number to see if it's available. If so, it comes up with a window for you to select it and, if not available, you get some wording in red such as....."The requested stateroom could not be held for the reservation. Please select another Stateroom.”...... I understand that the only 2 handicapped accessible SS cabins on the Century are 1200 & 1201. I have also heard that 1202 & 1203 have smaller balconies than the others on the Sports Deck. In case you need it, here's a link to the Century deck plans which will show you the room numbers & cabin types on each deck. The drawings ARE NOT to scale but give you a good indication of where they each cabin # is located.

Remember, the SS cabins on the Sky Deck have much larger balconies than those on the Penthouse Deck.

Hope this helps.

Just off the Century yesterday on a special charter cruise (RBC had the entire ship for the annual convention). We had cabin 9147 Vista deck and it was a perfect location. Mid ship, up two floors to the buffet and down two floors to the lounges, Casino and theater. The cabin is tight but once you decide who has "right of way" around the bed to the bathroom, you are fine. I especially enjoyed the fresh flowers. An arrangement on the desk in a 9(?) vial vase which was changed twice and a single rose in the bathroom which was changed 3 times. Towels were a different color each day. We did receive the canapes (hubby ate some) and the champagne was put in ice each day until we were ready to open it. The balcony was a good size with a large table. It was very windy on our cruise, so we did not eat on the balcony. We did order room service for breakfast 4 times and they were very prompt. I enjoyed the special CC yogurt parfait. We ordered room service at 1:00 am and it was also very prompt. Due to this being a charter cruise, we did not get any special tendering nor did we need the CC desk to arrange any excursions. We had a perfect trip and loved the Century.
