We have rented a car both times we were in LeHarve.

Caen

Bayeau (Bayeau tapestry)

Looks like a great idea Paul. Checked the rates and it's about $100 for the day. They even drive on the right side of the road.

Theres lots of previous posts with masses of info on Le Havre transport by car rental, public transport, private tours and taxi tours. There are lots of sightseeing options from Le Havre and they are vary varied so should be something for everyone.

This board is neither as big nor as fast moving as the Europe board so its very easy to simply scroll through this page and the next 2 or 3 you will find all the previous posts on the subject. By reading these and their replies you will probably find all the info you would need. Or try SEARCH THIS FORUM or SEARCH with eg Le Havre and the same posts will pop up in the results.

I read somewhere that it's 150 miles....2.5-3 hours. We were planning on renting a car and going there on our cruise in June, but realized it was too far. I want to see other things too and there isn't enough time.
