meow! Posted January 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2007 Oceania has been offering the usual itineraries for several years in a row. Is there any plan to sail the European rivers, and the new countries of the European Union? Or business is good enough as is, and there is no need to try something new and thereby take risks in occupancy rate?

orchestrapal Posted January 15, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2007 Even if the ships were of a size for rivers, why would O even think of going into an already overcrowded market. The river cruise companies are giving deals up to the day of sailing. Don't think they run as full as O does.
smj Posted January 15, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2007 Where can you find deals on the river cruises?

Ask4Jay Posted January 16, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 16, 2007 Jan - we did a Viking cruise down the Rhine River last fall and enjoyed it somewhat. The scenery was gorgeous, food and company were OK, but the ships are just too small to have balconies. And "no balcony" is a deal breaker for us. Gotta have private outside space. So we'll stick with O and NCL (in that order).
Jancruz Posted January 16, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2007 I know what you mean ..but I just liked the change of pace and the sifference from a blue water cruise..it would never take the place of Oceania to me..just take it in addition to!! spindrift Posted January 17, 2007 #8 Share Posted January 17, 2007 If you want a top river line, try Avalon's river boats. The BEST. If you want Apples to Apples (Oceania to river boats) go with Avalon.
