yst347 Posted February 13, 2008 #1876 Share Posted February 13, 2008 what is the closest place to shop and beach without paying for excursion? In Montego Bay the nearest beach is Sunset Beach. It is an all inclusive resort about a mile from the cruise ship terminal. Cab fare runs about $2 or $3 per-person each way. Admission is $40 for adults and $20 for children. This includes food and beverage. You can eat all you like at the outdoor grill or in the restaurant. There are three sections of beach. The last section is for adults and some women will be topless in this area. There is also a small water park with pools and slides. If you like having a few cocktails at the beach this is actually a pretty good value. If you don't drink it is a bit pricey. Your other choice is to take a cab to Dr. Cave beach. You pay a small admission charge, around $5 which allows you in. If you want a chair you pay extra, food or beverage is extra etc. I don't remember what cab fare is to town, check on the Jamaica board. A shopping area is adjacent to the terminal grounds as well as a few shops in the terminal. Dr.'s Cave In Grand Cayman you can catch a taxi van from the tender pier to Seven Mile Beach which is a few miles north of town. Sea Grape Park is popular with cruise ship passengers but I prefer to stop at The Royal Palms. Admission is free and a changing room and showers are provided. You can rent a chair for a few bucks. The Reef Bar and Grill is right on the beach with a web cam. It is also much closer to town than Sea Grape Park. Plenty of shopping is available around the tender pier as you are in downtown Georgetown. Royal Palms In Cozumel you will also need to take a cab to one of the beach clubs along the southeast shore of the island. Cab fare will run $12 to $14 for the cab, up to four people, each way. Mr. Sancho's and Paradise Beach both offer free admission, you pay for food/drink water activities etc. There are also several all-inclusive resorts, go check the Cozumel board for the latest details. Depending on where you dock, you will have some shopping at the International Pier or a ton of shopping at the Punta Langosta pier which is in San Miguel, the main town. gpcruiser Posted February 14, 2008 #1878 Share Posted February 14, 2008 I just read a post describing rooms #6438, 6442, and 6454 as "night owl" rooms as they were very loud because they are above Degas Lounge. I am in room 6487 but my children and their babies are in rooms 6444 and 6446. I am concerned that if these are noisy rooms this will make for a long cruise with the babies not sleeping. Has anyone else experienced this part of the ship being especially noisy? We are leaving in 17 days,,, :o Thanks for any response that can relieve my anxiety. txmomto1 Posted February 14, 2008 #1879 Share Posted February 14, 2008 What do you know about cabin 6338? I know it's inside, and small, but will we hear a lot above and below us?
yst347 Posted February 14, 2008 #1880 Share Posted February 14, 2008 Cabin 6338 is above the casino. While the casino is active till late each evening, you won't have a band playing underneath you. Not having stayed in a cabin above the casino I cannot say whether it will be noisy or not, maybe someone who has had one of these cabins can post from personal experience. BetterLateThannever Posted February 14, 2008 #1881 Share Posted February 14, 2008 Ok so I'm trying to pack light. Can I wear nice flip flops in the dining room? What about on formal night? They have rhinestones on them. Puhleeeez. If you want to wear flip flops, go to the buffet on the Lido deck.
Carlyzmom Posted February 15, 2008 #1882 Share Posted February 15, 2008 We had balcony rooms. They had refrigerators in them. The formal nights are on Monday and Thursday. The Captain's is on Monday. OK, does anyone know if the inside rooms on the Conquest have refridgerators? I can't find the answer on the FAQs.

All cabins on the Conquest have mini-bars. (a small fridge with stuff for sale in them). You can ask your steward to remove the stuff but he may not be allowed too. If this is the case, tell him you are putting some of the canned goods in your closet to make room for your personal stuff, and that you do not expect to be charged nor have the items replaced. Carlyzmom Posted February 18, 2008 #1884 Share Posted February 18, 2008 Does anyone know if I can carry wine on board in my carry on bag or does it have to be in my suitcase?
IBSaling Posted February 18, 2008 #1885 Share Posted February 18, 2008 Does anyone know if I can carry wine on board in my carry on bag or does it have to be in my suitcase? As long as you stay within the limit of 1 bottle per adult, it would be best to carry it on.

ROOSA ROGER Posted February 21, 2008 #1887 Share Posted February 21, 2008 Hello I Will Be Crusing On The Conquest On May 4th. I Am Considering The Tulum Tour On Our Stop In Cozumel. I Was Wondering If I Will Have To Take A Cab After The Tour To Get Back To The Ship. I Had A Friend Who Cruised On Rccl And Had To Take A Cab To Get Back To The Ship. Thanks For Any Info. yst347 Posted February 21, 2008 #1888 Share Posted February 21, 2008 If you book the Tulum tour through the ship, the transfers will be provided. Tulum is on the mainland. From Cozumel you will board a small launch for the 45 minute ride across the channel. You will then be shuttled to Tulum which is about 20 minutes south. After your tour you will return via the same method. I would not suggest you try touring Tulum from Cozumel on your own. If you are delayed, the ship will not wait and you will need to find your own way back to Galveston.

I Was Wondering If I Will Have To Take A Cab After The Tour To Get Back To The Ship. I Had A Friend Who Cruised On Rccl And Had To Take A Cab To Get Back To The Ship. Thanks For Any Info. I did the Tulum tour last week and you will be picked up at the pier where the Conquest docks. Be sure you are in line ASAP before the ship docks. You will have a 25 to 30 ride to Playa del Carmin then a 1.5 hour rbus ride to Tulum. There is also a 1/2 mile walk from the pier to the buses. You will need to walk fast to keep up with the guide. We enjoyed Tulum but wished that we had more time there. Dave

As I recall, the details above sound correct. One thing to add - take your suits (or wear them under your other clothes), because there is a nice little beach to swim at down below the Tulum ruins. That was really neat for my kids to do. Enjoy!
