I've finally finished my review...

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1949983

It won't be of much use to most of you because this was a one-time sailing. I do have summary comments at the end and a link to my Flickr album, so jumping straight to the end of the thread if you want to read those comments.

I am sailing on the Conquest in January. Any clothing tips for heading to warm weather from FREEZING temps?

Maybe not as cold as your weather, but it will be about 20 degrees F when we board the plane - I am just going to crank the heat in the car and take a light jacket on the plane. Wearing a travel long sleeve shirt and cargo pants that zip off on the plane so when I hit sunny Florida I can be comfortable. Everything I have packed is for warm climate except those clothes.

We did it ....booked our cruise on the Conquest for Eastern Carribean Cruise leaving out of Maimi on October 12th......

We booked cabin 7358 Balcony

So I am doing some back reading to catch up on all the goodies this ship has to offer and on the ports of call(St Thomas=Half Moon Cay=San Juan and Grand Turk)

Thanks to those who have supplied info -cruise reviews -trip reports(love these) and answered questions as this helps.

Hope to see lots more trip reports and pictures on here before our trip

A couple years ago, it was about zero F at Mpls/St. Paul airport.

We showed up in our Florida-grade windbreakers thinking we'd do the curbside check-in and be on our way. Well, my bag was overweight so we had to hustle into the terminal and move stuff to my wife's bag.

Back outside we go - this time there is a line!

Very unpleasant experience. We got over it, though.

Single 35 Australian male traveling solo and seriously considering the conquest April 13. Is it ok for solos? Many families? And struggling to decide on a room but narrowed it down to the empress level...

I was solo. Well, I had my own cabin but we had such an active Roll Call thread for the repositioning cruise that a whole lot of us ended up taking the same excursions, so after a day or two, I felt like I was sailing with a group of friends (but had my own cabin).

If you're looking for a great cabin for a solo, I had 7345. It's a 1A (midship; there is one on Deck 6, Deck 7 and Deck 8), so it's the cheapest you'll find. Good, central location. Best thing is Carnival doesn't use the upper bunk and added a 2nd bed, so you'd have a nice, big bed at the bunk bed price.

In mid-April, probably not a lot of families.

I'm female and considerably older than you, so I wasn't looking for a lot of other single/solo cruisers. I like my alone time. Carnival does have some single get-togethers late night. And if the lovely casino hostesses are still on the ship, you should check them out!

That's great thank you, will def check out the roll call and room. Exactly what I need to push me to book my first cruise! Ahem and it's more like 'hosts' that I'll be checking out ;-)
