Anyone have any input on the "aft" cabins on the Conquest? We just got an upgrade to cat. 8-F, cabins 7446 & 7448 across the very back on the Empress deck. I understand the cabins are bigger and have an extended balcony. Is there a down side? Noise etc.

Thanks,
Doug
We love the aft!

First cabin was 7444, and we loved it! Our cousins were in a suite, and they spent more time in our cabin then theirs. The balcony is a lot deeper, and the view is just wonderful.

Now we have changed to the aft-wrap cabins, unfortunately for us, we can never go back to the regular aft cabins.

I just want to do my civic duty, and let everyone know: The Aft-wrap cabins are bad, bad, bad.... you don't ever want to book one :D.
I've asked this elsewhere, but did not understand the answer--how do you attach the shoe thingies that have a lot of compartments in them in the bathrooms? Someone said they have velcro--is there velcro on the bathroom door? Do they have just one hole for only one hook or are there two holes and two hooks on the bathroom door. Am thinking of getting one (maybe) and just have no idea how to hang it. Guess I'm not too handy!

Mine has metal clips that hang over the top of the door. Edited by nanuak

I have the opportunity to have either 6483 or 8455. Is one better than the other? Both corner aft. I have a Sun Conure named Tiki, is your avatar a Sun? Edited by croosieloosie

Just want you to know I agree with you, please book in another section, they really aren't worth thinking about.

On a serious note, this will be my first time on the Conquest. We will be doing the Cabin Crawl/Poker run on Monday, our first day at sea. Does anyone have a suggestion in what bar, or area of the ship we could all meet at to get started. On RCI we always did it directly after the meet n greet, and everyone was together. Any suggestions? Not sure what is available on the ship. Thanks, and looking forward to our trip n the Conquest.

Sorry, thought I'd quoted the other post. That was in reference to how bad aft-wrap cabins are and why no one should book them.

Thanks,
That's the one I took. 8455 looks like an odd shaped cabin and the balcony has that little hidden corner part.
My daughter has a Jenday Conure. He's really loud. Worse than Tiki. LOL

Now that I can't imagine . My Sun is in his bedroom, with the door closed, and I can still hear him screaming from the dining room.

I think you will be very happy with 6483. Both of us loved the extra room in the cabin, and the balcony is to die for.

Well hello Roll Call buddy! How similar do you think they would be to our sailing? I'm pretty new to cruising myself so I'm not sure how often they change things up. But yeah, I guess something is better than nothing! You can email me at kandisandgreg@gmail.com . Thanks!

On our first cruise, we sailed with my cousins and their two year old. We used these to keep in touch while on-board, and they worked great.

Thanks, good to know! We used them this weekend at the beach and had good reception between two cars....up to 3 miles apart at one time. Was curious about usability on the ship. Thanks!

Has anybody sailed on the Conquest during hurricane season? I know that everyone lost their cars at port during Ike (hopefully, that was a one time occurrence), but how does it take high seas. Did you miss ports? What happened? Thinking about booking a cruise in August! Would you do it?

Snoozeman (Hi Snoozeman!) and I were on the cruise the week before Hurricane Ike. (8/31/08 to 9/7/08.) Another hurricane had hit Jamaica the previous week so the Conquest went to Progresso instead. The ship followed a line towards the SW leaving Galveston in order to avoid the weather that was passing the Gulf closer to Florida. If I recall, there was some slight movement the 2nd morning, but nothing to write home about for me. The rest of the week was smooth sailing.

The cruise that went out the day we returned is the one that ended up in New Orleans for a couple of days and returned to Houston 4 days late. Those are the folks that lost cars in Galveston.

Once again I'm booked for the 8/30/09 cruise. Maybe it will make it to Jamaica this year. :) I don't let hurricane season scare me from booking.

I have been to Jamaica numerous times also and wanted to do something different, we did the Sandals all-inclusive day and had a fun time. The resort we went to was very nice, shaded chairs on the beach, all the liquor you would ever want, nice sandy beach and swim-up bar in pool. We ate lunch at the grill but you can also go into the resturant. We left the ship at 11 am and boarded the shuttle back to the ship at 3:30pm, plenty of time to soak in the sun and relax.
