DON2 Posted July 27, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2004 Sailing next May 05 on Mercury out of San Francisco and need info on where the ship will be boarded. Need dock info and where the pier is located. Am guessing that maybe the "embarcadaro" might be one location. Maybe I am guessing wrong. Anyone who has info would appreciate your knowledge. Thanks in advance. DON2
polodad Posted July 27, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2004 Hi. I'll know better when we offload in SF 9/12, but liviing in the Bay area I feel comfortable guessing. I know that the pier is in fact on the Embarcadero. I'm pretty sure it is numbered in the 40's and pretty close to the intersection of Bay & the Embarcadero. If you know SF it's about 55% of the way up the Embarcadero from the Ferry bldg/ Embarcadero Hyatt going towards Fisherman's Wharf. Hope that helps. Loop Posted July 27, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 27, 2004 Pier 35 is at the intersection of Bay St. and the Embarcadero, at the very North end of the City. It is right next door to Pier 39 and our world-renowned Fisherman's wharf area, and there are many hotels within a few blocks of the terminal including: There are San Francisco visitor information signs posted throughout the City showing either a Chinese Lantern (Chinatown), or a crab (Fisherman's Wharf). Follow any of the signs showing the crab, and you will find Fisherman's wharf. The cruise terminal is right next door. You can take our municipal light railway, the "F" line from any of these hotels and get off at the Ferry Building. It will cost $1 per adult fare. AMTRAK is right next door to the Ferry Building at the foot of Mission St. and the Embarcadero. They have bus service that will take you to the Emeryville station across the bay and that is where you will board the train to all points beyond. Long term INDOOR parking is available across the street at : ACE PARKING 55 Francisco Street (415) 398-0208 The lot manager's name is Willie. The rate is $12 per CALENDAR day for anyone presenting a cruise ticket or boarding pass. The lot will operate at any time there is a cruise ship in. NOTE THAT THIS SPECIAL RATE IS ON A currently on CASH BASIS ONLY. Some of the hotels I mentioned above have FREE parking for all 7-days if you stay at least one night. Check it out. We recommend that the guests drop their luggage at the curb-side pull-off in front of the cruise terminal BEFORE proceeding to park. There will be porters along the walk available to take all CHECKED luggage, and carry-on luggage should either be carried from the parking lot, or left with a friend or travelling companion at the front of the cruise terminal. We do have maps available for mailing if you so require. ##### Hope this helps. G. L. Bruin Steve Posted July 27, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 27, 2004 Just for clarification, it IS Pier 35... The piers in San Francisco are numbered from Market Street...with the odd numbers going north and the even numbers going south (although, for historical reasons, there are some missing numbers) Fishermans Wharf is Pier 45...just to the right of that a short way is Pier 39, the touristy pier with the Aquarium, Carousel and shops and restaurants... Then just a short bit to the right of that is Pier 35...It's about where Kearny Street hits the Embarcadero (remember, Kearny does not go through more than a couple of blocks from the Embarcadero...Telegraph Hill and Coit Tower are in the way...
