amyellen Posted February 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2007 I need help! I have a 17 and 15 year old (boys), and a 9-year old daughter. We are going to Key West and Nassau in March. I need suggestions on the best excursions for teens! Maybe one that is high energy and one that is more relaxing, but fun. Is it too cold for us southerners to swim in March? sross6019 Posted February 16, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2007 We have been to Key West 2x, Dec and March. For Key West, I would recommend the Regatta race, if it is still offered. We did it a few years ago. It was through the ship (RCCL Rhapsody). You go out with others and 2-3 catamarans. After a short sailing lesson you race the other ships. It was fun for all ages and my youngest was 11. We had difficulty because the wind died down toward the end so it was hard to race, but the views were great and still a fun time. At the end, they gave my youngest a free t-shirt. While you are there go to Kermit's Key Lime shop. Great key lime cookies and wonderful frozen key lime pie dipped in chocolate! There is a nice sandle place kind of close to the dock called Kinos. They are handmade, cheap ($8-$10 a pair), and very comfortable. Ther Hemmingway house is enjoyable. Believe it or not, my family and I enjoyed walking around the cementery. Couldn't find the "funny" tombstones, but the memorial to the USS Miami was awesome. All ot of it depends when you arrive in Key West. The first time for us was Christmas Eve at 5:00 p.m.! so most shops were closing about an hour after we arrived, if they weren't already closed. I don't know about swimming, but the weather was wonderful (mid 80s) both times we were there. I don't have any suggestions for Nassau, sorry. What ever you depend to do, enjoy, and have fun!
