March Cruiser Posted February 14, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2007 I have been reading about the need to carry your passport (or a copy at a minimum) and I am wondering the best way to do this while in port. What do you put yours in, just a backpack or small purse or something? We are going cave tubing in Belize and I don't know where our stuff will be. Any ideas on how to keep our stuff safe and dry while on our adventures? TIA!:)

caribbean dreams Posted February 14, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 14, 2007 When we went Cave Tubing in Belize, everyone left their personal items in the locked van, we were told it was very safe and nothing had ever been taken.
paul929207 Posted February 14, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 14, 2007 I have a fanny pack that holds passports, money, credit card, cruise card and camera. I keep it in the front and keep my shirt over it, Doesn't look the best, but it works for me. Paul
Happy ks Posted February 14, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 14, 2007 I think it would depend on where I was going to be and if there was any chance I might miss the ship. I'd never take the original if I were just going to go shopping in port, or spend any time in the crowded port shopping area, too much of a chance being mugged or pickpocketed. Passports are a valuable commodity and thieves would love to get their hands on them. Although not as good as the real thing, a photo copy would help tremendously if you should get left behind in port. If I were going on an independent excursion and the time was iffy getting back to the ship, or the distance from port quite far, then I would take the original. I would carry it in a document holder that was strapped to my body, like a money belt. Not in a purse, waist pack or backpack. pooh94 Posted February 14, 2007 #7 Share Posted February 14, 2007 I carried a waist travel wallet purchased from LLBean. It was $9.50. It fits under your pants in the front. Suprisingly, it fit well and was never uncomfortable. I am purchasing one for all of my cruise partners.
