The Monocled Mutineer joins Cruise Critic

The Monocled Mutineer

Recommended Posts

Having participated in P&O's Cruise Connections for 4 years and recently joining the UK based Crow's Nest, I have decided to take an early morning cold plunge into the world of Cruise Critic.

Now I am considered in some quarters a bit of an "irritant" but I do have my admirers everytime I look in the mirror.

I have been on over 20 cruises, mainly on ex.UK based P&O although I have also done the Crossing there and back on QM2's maiden Transatlantic, the old Caronia, Fred Olsen's Black Prince. I have also cruised once out of Ft.Lauderdale on HAL's Volendam with a largely US & Canadian passenger compliment and enjoyed the experience.

As in work and play, I "work" towards people's strengths. I prefer to concentrate on the great contributions the US, the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and our other great democracies, with their peoples, have contributed to Human happiness. Although many of my fellow countrymen and women will carp on forever about how awful everything is in the UK (and for good measure blame the US for everything), I do NOT fall into that camp.

There, now I have set out my stall, I shall be happy to resume the pleasant subject of cruising and cruise ships, notwithstanding any one would like to take-up any issues raised in this posting.

Yours truly, &c., &c.,

The Monocled Mutineer

Derek,

My wife has persuaded me to take to the Carribbean, I absolutely hate flying.

Calypso Isles 02/03/2007 (Cardiff)

Have booked Premium seats home, but could you offer any advice how to get through the 10 hours to Barbados in any sot of comfort in the Bucket seats?

Take Care

Carl:)

Not really fair. I have always enjoyed the Monocled Mutineers posts on the P&O site though perhaps not so much on the Crow's Nest.

Oh I think Merecat is being fair, we all speak as we find, and I too find the over long and, in the main, superior tone of the MM's postings not only boring, but incredibly irritating.

If you find my postings irritating, don't read them.

I would hate to cause you any distress.

Irritating!!

Obtuse!!

Unbelievable!!

Strange!!

Really nice and friendly?????

On the contrary I joined Cruise Critic prior to MM's joining. Had I realised that it is the norm to announce one's own arrival as a newcomer to Cruise Critic in the style of MM, I would have done so on the 11th February.

.... Is this Modest Mutineer some sort of celebrity or what?

I thing he must be sort of famous with that fancy signature thing he ends his posts with.

Quite so. There's been nothing like it since Handel wrote The Entrance of the Queen of Sheba!

My hunting friend Jonquil Carruthers has it on good authority that the Mutineer is related to the captain of the Titanic. That's why his posts give you that sinking feeling.

Now then boys.....let's just try and get on nicely shall we? It's great that there are more of us on here...it's been a bit lonely;) There are far better topics to get caught up in over here than bickering...now get on over to the princess page and put your thoughts down about the regional foods we like, and do try to be good boys ok?:D

Welcome on board Derek. Tony & I joined Cruise Critic prior to our Celebrity Cruise in 2005 - hence the 'moniker' Britboys. We met many contacts for that cruise prior to embarking and even now smile at the memory of hearing cruise companions aboard greeting us with a hearty 'hi there Britboys' :D

I look forward to seeing your helpful posts on this board and trust that posters here will get used to your occasional tongue-in-cheek posts without resorting to personal comments

Thank you to the welcoming messages following my "entrance"

As for those that responded in such a negative manner ...

... It has always been my policy to resist the temptation to lash back in kind. I believe their words speak volumes about the sort of people they are.

Hi Derek it is so nice to be loved. I have all of my access problems solved for today so I shall meet you on a number of boards now. Of course all that could change tomorrow.

I find it interesting to compare all of the boards and see how different they are.

:):)Happy Cruising:):)
