Infinity alaska. When to eat in the Specialty restaurant

We are sailing on the Infinity to Alaska on 17th June and would like to have a meal in the specialty restaurant. Does anyone know which would be the best night to choose? It is only a 7 day trip, so we will have to miss dinner with our tablemates one night. Previously, on the Summit in 2002 we ate there twice but that was an 11 nighter. We don't want to miss formal night or good views on the long evenings by being so long at dinner if the scenery is spectacular.

We were on a 7 night cruise on Infinity out of Vancouver and we were more worried about just being able to get reservations because we were told they book fast. I would check with a staff member to make sure you do not book while going through the passage. We went through the best part of the passage during the day so when we had our dinner it was not a problem. I have been on 3 X cruises to Alaska and we have dined in the specialty restaurants and did not miss anything. At night you can not see the whales or dolphins or whatever else might be out there so I would say from experience is make sure you are not traveling through the narrorw passage because after that there is not much to see for awhile.

When we sailed Infinity to Alaska we discovered the alternative casual dining. It's served in the Oceanview Grill. Menu service, attentive waiters, tables set with flowers and tablecloths and views to die for. Our cruise was 12 nights and we ended up eating dinner there 10 of them. There is a $2pp charge. You can make same day reservations for any time you like. We saw wildlife, beautiful scenery, and had hot fresh cooked to order meals every night. The service was wonderful too. We were just sorry it took us two nights to try it, because once we did we never went back to the dining room.
