Thinking of booking this for pre and post cruise. We will not have a car; therefore, I wonder are there restaurants within walking distance, any shopping close by, and does the water taxi stop here or close? Is there a shuttle from the airport and how far to the port? Thanks in advance for the replies. Should I go for the Marriott Marina instead?

The Marriott Harbor Beach is a very beautiful hotel. The water taxi does not stop there as it is on the oppisite side of 17th street. It is across the draw bridge and about 1 to 1 1/2 miles from the Marriott Marina. It is a long walk to reach any resturants but would only be a $5 cab ride otherwise. Have you checked their prices yet? It can be quite a bit higher then the rest averaging around $189.00 a night. It is probably only 2 miles to the port but with red lights would be around $10. Marriott Marina is directly across the street from the Princess pier and higher floors offer you a partial view of the Princess ships. Hope this helps.

The water taxi stops at the Marriott Marina Hotel. I would highly suggest this hotel. If you are looking for a great hotel, the 15th Street Fisheries (right next to the Marriott Marina) is wonderful. Great views and excellent menu.

The Marriott Harbor Beach Resort is a fabulous hotel. It is the nicest hotel in the area. There are several restaurants at the hotel. It is located on a great stretch of beach with a beautiful pool area along with hot tubs. Once we stayed here post cruise and watched the ship we had just been on (The Century) cruise out to sea past this hotel.

We stayed here once pre-cruise for 3 days and did not have a car. If you do have a car they charge for parking (maybe $18.00 a day or so). The hotel is located right off of A1A and we walked to many restaurants. Granted it is a good walk, but if you like to walk it is not a problem. We even walked all the way up to Las Olas and Beach Place. You can easily take a cab right from the lobby and it shouldn't be that expensive.

We walked a few blocks up A1A and across the street to the Bahia Cabana hotel to pick up the water taxi. It is not far. The water taxi also stops another few blocks up at the Radisson Bahia Mar Hotel which is also located on A1A. You can take the water taxi to several restaurants if you don't want to walk or take a cab. The Sheraton is located on the beach right near the Marriott and they have a restaurant as well.

The Marriott Harbor Beach Resort does not have a shuttle to the pier, but it is fairly close and again you can take a taxi from the lobby to the pier.

We have also stayed at the Hyatt Pier 66 which is also very nice, but it is not located on the beach. The hotel does have a nice pool area with a giant hot tub. This hotel has a revolving roof top bar with a great view of Fort Lauderdale. There is a marina on the grounds and you can look at all the beautiful yachts. The water taxi does stop here as well. The Hyatt Pier 66 is a great choice, but my heart belongs to the Marriott Harbor Beach.
