yogimax Posted March 8, 2007 #76 Share Posted March 8, 2007 PS Here is a definition of the scientific method. I, also, know you won't read this because the 5 O'clock news gives you all of the facts you need to get by.:p . JC - thanks for the definition of "scientific method." I'm sorry I never had it so simply described in my seven years of undergraduate and graduate studies:) o.k. - here's the "real deal." I don't need the 5 o'clock news for my "facts." For over 27 years, I worked directly with cancer patients and family members at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in Manhattan. I witnessed the results of first-hand and second-hand smoking up close. Nuf said (unfortunately). Yogi

yogimax Posted March 9, 2007 #79 Share Posted March 9, 2007 I can remember when this topic was about non-smoking cabins.:D The question is why so many people favor the establishment of non-smoking cabins. In many cases, it is due to sensitivity to and dislike of cigarette smoke. We just returned from the Sovereign where we had an adjoining inside cabin. Sure enough, the first night we experienced a fairly heavy odor of cigarette smoke, which was obviously coming from under and around the adjoining door. We hear so much of a smoker's "right" to enjoy their cigarettes in their cabins. But what about the non-smoker's right to sleep peacefully without the putrid smell of stale tobacco? AFT_LOVER Posted March 9, 2007 #80 Share Posted March 9, 2007 Port for smokers, Starboard for non smokers. None in hallways either. Make the cigar bar it for smokers & split the casino in half for smokers with major AC on. Then in a few months you see you can have smoke free ships due to all the non smokers, then try it. BobBeaSea Posted March 9, 2007 #81 Share Posted March 9, 2007 I can tell by your disbelief regarding a person being "allergic" to smoke, that "you" are a smoker. "Only a smoker" would make this statement. I am 53 years old, and was first diagnosed as "being allergic to" smoke when I was 13 years old. This diagnosis was made by a medical doctor with years of training. On top of that I was also diagnosed as an asthmatic. Just because you don't believe somebody can be allergic to something, doesn't make it so. I'm also "allergic" to the flu serum, as well as feathers, and several drug allergies. Unless you can prove your medical degree, I wouldn't say smoke allergies aren't a possibility. My 50 year old brother, and my 59 year old sister also have the allergy to smoke. Unless you have to live with the condition, don't deny its possibility. From your post I'd say you were diagnosed as an asthmatic therefore smoke is probably an irritant to you. Also, it wasn't me who posted the facts about smoking not being an allergen. Whether I am a smoker or not has nothing to do with it, choose another target. I wonder if foot odor is an allergen, or is it just a plain old irritant. :) For the OP, who knows on non smoking cabins on cruise ships still allowing smoking, maybe some day if it makes economic sense.
