Taxi or Excursion to Govenors Beach?

Should we do an excursion or take a taxi to the beach? how much is a taxi or should we try an excursion and forget worry about trying to find a taxi and pick up? Thanks

We were at Grand Turk last summer. Governor's Beach is about 1/2 a mile from the port. I don't think there is any reason to purchase an excursion to it. We walked out the front gate of the port and down a paved road. The road or driveway to the beach is the first real left you'll come to about 1/2 a mile down the road. It was not marked and the road was hot to walk on. We took a taxi back for $3 a person. I'd probably take the cab since it's not well marked. We asked a guy who was renting motorcycles for directions. It's a beautiful beach and you can see the ship from it. Very pretty. There were not a lot of chairs, but we did find two. Wish I could go back!:rolleyes:

Is there a bar at or near Governors Beach - or is it pretty rustic?

There are no bars at Governor's Beach but there are a couple of vending machines that have juices and water. There are restrooms where you can change. It's a beautiful place.

I was at governers beach last week.. There is a bar in front of the shower/bathroom area. It is small and only served beer,rum drinks and soda/snacks. If your looking for a bar goto margaretaville.
