indie Posted March 8, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2007 Im a first timer, so i dont know if this will change. But there are several things i am really excited about and looking foward to. 1. Visiting new places. I have never left the U.S. Cant wait to see different ports and nice beaches 2. Food - i get to try things i would probably never try. And there will be no hassle of having to plan or prepare meals. The same goes for trying new drinks. 3. Photo ops. I never been big on photo's but I recently bought a new digital camera that is very fun to use and takes great photos even as a novice, but i cant wait to capture the memories of the cruise and the great views and beaches. 4. A week with my wife and no other friends, family or work obligations to bother us! 5. Trying the casino, (possibly)...never gambled...wont do much because i cant afford to lose much, but might put aside a little bit of money just to give it a whirl. klct39lg Posted March 8, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2007 Hi Indie, I enjoy knowing that everything is right there on the ship. (entertainment, activity, food, ocean) No driving. No maps. No designated drivers necessary. (not that I’m a lush) I feel very special and pampered. As a family, we can do different things on the ship at the same time, i.e. I can read, kids can play ping pong. DH can jog. We don’t have to take turns doing what we want; this makes for an self-indulgent week! I know your are going to have a wonderful cruise. :)

isujim Posted March 8, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 8, 2007 Believe it or not..........we look forward most to SEA DAYS.......less is more for us.........we always try and book cruises where there are at least 3 sea days or more.
fantavet Posted March 8, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 8, 2007 My wife and I are the same way. Sea days are great. Though we are going to Bermuda this summer at least the boat will be docked there for 3 full days. Which is nice, no rush to get back on the boat before it leaves. When you only have 7 hours at a port I get a little nervous about how far I stray from the boat. You could give yourself a hour for a 30 minute trip back to the boat but you might hit traffic, etc... If you are doing a shore excursion through the cruiseline you are all set. The boat waits. But we like to go off on our own. On our 2nd trip to the Eastern Carribbean we didn't get off the boat for more then 2 hours at two of the ports. We enjoy the empty ship. I went to Disney World for 8 days and we had a great time but it was like work. You felt that you paid all this money that you had to see everything, and we did. On a cruise you throw away the schedules (for the most part) and just relax without feeling guilty that you are missing something.
marthalt Posted March 8, 2007 #7 Share Posted March 8, 2007 First of all, seeing the ship at first glance is a huge rush all it's very own !! Trust that! Then it's just total awe as the caribbean music is playing on Lido as you walk around with drinks and all kinds of great food. The getting as far away from normal day to day life is it for me. Looking out into the ocean as the ship gently sways, anticipating everything that lies ahead on the journey. Being waited on hand and foot, no responsibilities. Meeting new people, exploring the ship,......do I need to go on............. Savor every moment starting right now -
newmexicoNita Posted March 8, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 8, 2007 We look forward to the entire experience: the itinerary and seeing many places in one week (or ever how long our cruise is) while only unpacking once: relaxing by the pool on sea days, the casino, the food, the excellant service and doing so much in such a little time without hailing taxis, driving all over, etc. NMnita

flamomo Posted March 8, 2007 #10 Share Posted March 8, 2007 We enjoy the total experience - the huge beautiful ship, the great food and the opportunity to try lots of new foods, the entertainment, the excellent service, the accomodations, visiting new places, meeting fellow passengers, the relaxation, the casino - it's ALL wonderful and a total escape from the ordinary. We think it is the best vacation ever. As a previous poster said, don't try to do everything. Just let yourselves relax and take things as they come. THere's so much to see and do, and if you try to do all of it, you'll go home overwhelmed and wiped out.

DaisyGirl55 Posted March 9, 2007 #19 Share Posted March 9, 2007 Just being able to sit back and breathe. Nothing pressing on my schedule. No shoulda's, no have to's, nothing I don't want to do. I can do it all, or do nothing at all...and not feel guilty about it. Can't do that at home, certainly can't do that at work. But on a ship? Oh, it feels so good to step on board, and just breathe a big sigh that I am on vacation. Ahhhhhhh yesssss :D :D
