Me too!! :)

I actually sent an email to Carnival asking for info. Two days ago. Will they ever answer?

If you have any info about bar setups, please post. I'd love to see something in print rather than have to try to do it in my head as the OP said.

Thanks!!!

Hi:

Here is the phone number for the Bon Voyage Dept. 1-800-522-7648. In order to order the booze you need the booking number and your cabin number and of course a credit card. We have done it and it works out great for us. The only thing is the set ups. They are very expensive for the soda. Just bring your mixers in your packed luggage or be creative with the juices at lunch-time etc. We bring a large water bottle each and fill it with juice at breakfast then stick it in your frig and mix with the booze. Hope it works out for you.

Actually, no you don't.:) I didn't have my booking # in front of me and I don't have a cabin # yet (booked guarantee), Vivian just looked me up in the computer. I'm sure those things would help, but she's great either way.

Soda was 1.95 a can. Not expensive enough for me to want to schlepp some on my own.

Thanks everyone - this is great information.

Are they still checking bags for booze - I heard during Spring Break they took over 50 bottles of booze out of checked luggage. We were on the Star Princess and took all our booze with us.

How much notice does she require? We'll be in port a day ahead of our cruise... is that enough time? Or do we need to order a few weeks/days in advance?

Thanks :)

If you packed your mixers in your luggage then it would still be considered smuggling. We can't win either way. I'm starting to think that moneywise it makes more sense to smuggle the alcohol and order the mixers onboard. ;-)~Cari

Thank you CF!! Vivian is a doll!

I initially called the # Carnival gave me in an email and spoke to "Jason" who told me it was impossible to oder liquor for your room. Then I figured I 'd take the experts advice:p and call Vivian.

Thanks again!

Oh by the way... a bottle of Capt Morgan and 12 cans of Coke = 62.76

Hmmm... I spoke to a "Jason" (maybe same one) or "Justin" (?) as well just a few minutes ago. Apparently the reservations department does not know about this "hidden policy," since I pointed out this topic on CC. He looked at it, put me on hold and called a supervisor... who also didn't know about it. So they called the Bon Voyage and found out, yep, they can do it BUT they don't advertise it because of various reasons (price complaints, sales onboard, etc., etc. ...).

And he did mention that those trying to smuggle stuff onboard are pretty much the reason CCL and the other lines have cracked down on us bringing private beverages onboard. They posted up their new stricter policy last week (there's a few threads here on it...). Don't hope that you can still get those travel bottles through check-in anymore, carried on or through the porters. If it's found, it's confiscated.

If you get an answer here that we "vaunted all-knowing CC members" know about doesn't make it correct, just what they got by with. And those res agents are just following the guidelines and such they're given. I looked over the entire Carnival website and all the brochures I've gotten from them and there's NOTHING about ordering alcohol to your cabin... not even on those Bon Voyage order forms they sent us in the ticket packets.

So give those reservation agents some slack. Better to be told in error and not run into issues, then to be told wrong and run into problems.

And looks like you spent about .60¢ more than just buying it per drink. An R&C is $4.50 onboard, with 15% gratutity is $5.18, so you would've been looking at $62.16 for 12 of them. I'd have just bought them onboard myself (which I do all the time! *grin... hic!*).

We've been on several cruises and have ALWAYS smuggled on our own liquor onto the ship via our checked luggage.

I think it's great that Carnival offers this service that is nowhere to be found on their website of course, nor in any of the brochures, etc. This is something they don't willingly advertise and heck most of the PVP's are not very familiar with it either from what I gather. Look what all of us liquor smugglers have forced Carnival to do..lol

I believe it's just a matter of what works best for you whether or not you decide to take your own liquor or go the pre-order through Carnival route. Of course Carnival would prefer you to give them even more $$$ and do it their way as I'm sure they are very aware that plenty of cruisers just bring their own liquor on board and will continue to do so regardless. This is however a bit more convenient and you don't have to worry about carefully packing the liquor and it adding to that all important baggage weight..lol

$40 - $55 for a Liter of alcohol is a great price if those are indeed the prices and they are Liters that you are getting? If that be the case, we may have to look into this option for our upcoming cruise next month!

she usually asks for a week or two in adcance. she can get anything you want(mixers and stuff to if you don't want to smuggle it) she will package it all together for you. like i said i ordered 3 bottles of whiskey a bottle of vodka an 3-12 packs of coke for $110

Does just because have a website or do I simply have to give Shelly a call? The prices you got for your liquor are those for fifths' or liters'?

So they get it all packaged and have it in your cabin upon sailing? Wow, never heard of them but this may be the beginning of a very wonderful relationship! LOL

the prices are for 750ML bottles and she said that the packages usually get delivered after the practice emergency drill ( i forgot the technical name for it) she has a website but it has no prices on it and she will only give prices out over the phone so you will just have to call her.

I appreciate the info. I will give her a call indeed. Oh yeah, the technical name for it is the "muster drill"...lol

Thanks again

If the bottle has 750 ml that is equal to 16 airline size minis. At $40 that breaks down to 8 minis but those are still small drinks. If you buy a 1.75 and put it in your luggage for $12 (vodka)you get 35 drinks @50ml it comes in at $.35 a drink. If you buy scotch at $30 it's less than a buck each. The last time I paid $40 for a bottle was for a ltr of 18 yr old Dewars in Costa Rica at the DFS at the airport and that retails for over $100. Since I use the ships casino to gamble I will continue to use my luggage as well and take my chances. This topic seems to be the same regardless of which mainstream cruise line you read in the threads.

yea i would never pay $40 for a 750ml of vodka or whiskey, the company we are talking about is $22 per bottle. Still more expensive than bringing it yourself but you don't have to sneak it on and risk the chance of getting it taking away at embarkation.

So give those reservation agents some slack.

I have no issue with the agents. I do think CCL should have all their customer service folks on the same page though. I'd be embarrased if my customers knew more about my company than my employees did.:)

An R&C is $4.50 onboard, with 15% gratutity is $5.18, so you would've been looking at $62.16 for 12 of them.

Since there are 34 oz in a liter and I get 2 drinks from one can of Coke I'm pretty sure I saved myself some money.

Let's see, 23 drinks (1 shot and half a Coke) at 5.18 = 119.14 Yep, I sure did! Even if I overpour some of the shots ending up with less than 23 drinks I still got a good deal. I'm happy.:)
