Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted March 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2007 Can anyone tell me which train station in Venice is closest to the pier used by Princess (Emerald Princess, June 07?). Thanks!
cusyl Posted March 16, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2007 All trains terminate in Venice. There is only one train station.
franu Posted March 16, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2007 Are you looking for the most convenient way to get to the cruise terminal when taking the train from elsewhere? When I was traveling by train to Venice for my cruise, I followed the suggestions on this board. They were to take the train to Venezia-Mestre station which is the last stop on the mainland. Take a taxi to the cruise terminal. He will let you off just in front of the baggage drop-off. Taking the train to Venezia Santa Lucia station will require you to walk and drag your luggage further than you would care to. It may also be hot at that time of year. I was so thankful for the suggestion. Fran
Susan-M Posted March 16, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2007 Here's a link to the Venice Cruise Terminal website - it provides info on directions to the two train stations: http://www.vtp.it/pages/navi/crociera.jsp?idm=N9TJQI370QEBK450YX34KN08MM3PCGHM&iconaInfo=ico-raggiungerci and a link to maps on the same website: http://www.vtp.it/pages/comeRaggiungerci/comeRaggiungerci01.jsp?m=1 http://www.vtp.it/pages/navi/mappaCrociere.jsp
Crusier98 Posted March 16, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 16, 2007 Take the train to Venice Mestre and take a cab the short distance to the cruise terminal
awms Posted March 18, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 18, 2007 I would take the train to the Santa Lucia Train Station which is near the Piazza Roma area where we stayed. It's a very short walk to the Bus/Cab stations in the Piazza Roma from the train station. The cab ride from the Piazza Roma to the terminal was only five minutes (15 euros) versus 20 minutes for the Maestre Station. Have no idea what the cost would be for a 20 minute cab ride. Food for thought.
suekay Posted March 18, 2007 #7 Share Posted March 18, 2007 If you do decide to walk..........don't forget that you'll have to carry your bags over the bridge over the canal opposite the station, then another smaller bridge near Piazzale Roma:(
