Rev22:17 Posted March 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2007 KCruisin', Has anyone ever done a Golf Theme cruise with Celebrity?? We are looking to put one together. Actually, Celebrity has already made a lot of the arrangements for you. On all "Caribbean" and "Mexican Rivera" cruises, the ship's golf pro leads an excursion to a major course for those who wish to play. You can rent clubs if you don't bring your own. Note that the airlines will transport a set of golf clubs for each passenger in addition to the regular luggage (two checked bags, a carry-on bag, and a "personal item"), so bringing your clubs with you is no problem. Rare hcat Posted March 17, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2007 if you take clubs use a hard case & pray alot--- DH has had two cases damaged but at least clubs were safe!
SoCalGal Posted March 17, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2007 We tried to find a cruise that would be tied to the Ryder Cup in Ireland last year but to no avail. We have a hard case for travel that we put both sets into...during check-in one of the passengers thought it was a coffin.....yikes!
waterlizard Posted March 18, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 18, 2007 We have taken our clubs on many cruises. Hardcase is the best way to go. Just a warning in regards to Celebrity Golf Pro's. They will add in an additional 15% to the excursion price and send a letter to your cabin that implies this is for tips at golf courses and transportation costs and payment of the pro. Note the excursion cost quoted elite golf includes the cost of golf, transportation and the pro. The pro's are paid by elite golf and are not celebrity employees. The tipping of the golf pro is entirely up to you. We ask the pro upfront to only include the cost of the excursion on our ship board account. We tip the pro in cash based on the services that they provide, if they play a few holes with you, offer assistance with your game, provide some extra service. We have golfed with Celebrity many times and this avoids confusion on the last day of the cruise when golf bill arrives at your cabin. Happy Golfing!!
