FcapAcap Posted March 18, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 18, 2007 Please help. ON EOS in april and wife and I just got passports in mail. They misspelled her first name "ANA" instead of "ANNA". Can she still use her passport with her first name misspelled? We won't have time to resubmit it before our cruise.

That is terrible, I would suggest to bring the birth certificates along as backup and of course the driver's license. As as soon as you get back resubmit it for a correction. You don't need the passport this year so the bc will work fine.
PhoenixCruiser Posted March 18, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 18, 2007 It might be easier this time to call RCI and have her name changed on their reservation. They may charge you $35, however if you are are real nice ;) they just may do it for free. My first name is incorrect on my BC so I have been dealing with this for years :D Please keep us updated! ###
Ella2 Posted March 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 18, 2007 Yes, just use the certified BIRTH CERTIFICATE for this cruise and get the passport fixed when you return. You may also want to check about an expedited replacement; if it is the passport agency's fault then there should be procedures in place to get you a replacement ASAP. You may want to call and check on that. Enjoy your cruise! :)

PhoenixCruiser Posted March 18, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 18, 2007 But then her Drivers license will not match either. Yes, however if she has a passport, does she really need to show her DL  My charge cards don't match my BC or DL and I've never had a problem. ###

PhoenixCruiser Posted March 18, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 18, 2007 True, I guess you could look at it either way. Sue, I was just looking for a short term resolution for their cruise next month. They can fix her passport when they get back and have more time and perhaps patience ;) :) ###

I guess we were trying to accomplish the same thing in different ways. ;)

suezyq50 Posted March 18, 2007 #11 Share Posted March 18, 2007 The cruise line does allow one letter off. I would resubmit on return.
cruisingnewyorkers Posted March 19, 2007 #12 Share Posted March 19, 2007 FcapAcap The easiest and the fastest way to get a error corrected in a passport is to mail the passport to the agency where it was issued with new photos and a DS 5504 and of course the incorrect passport and a copy of the birth certifcate with the correct spelling. Also they will reimburse you for the photos if you send them a receipt. You can print a DS 5504 off the state department web site at http://www.travel.state.gov Mark on the front of the envelope that it is to go to the reissue department. It usually takes about a week to get the corrected passport if you do it this way. To find out which agency issued your passport look at the return address on the front of the envelope in which you received your passport. I hope this helps. cb at sea Posted March 19, 2007 #13 Share Posted March 19, 2007 Have you called the passport office to ask this question??? The cruiseline isn't who has imposed this rule--they really don't care if you have a passport or not!
BethCarp Posted March 19, 2007 #14 Share Posted March 19, 2007 I would "correct" my name on the cruise reservation and use the passport. That way if you need to fly home for some reason, you're set. You won't need to worry about showing your DL. The passport would serve as any picture ID you might need (well except maybe if you were to rent a car). Then just change it when you get back.
