New Pier in Honolulu for all NCLA Ships

Recommended Posts

As of the 3/18/2007 Pride of Aloha sailing NCLA began using Pier 2, this is located about 1/2 to 3/4 mile walk from the Aloha Tower and the old Pier.

We were told by our concierge Jeff Bryant this is a permanent move for all NCLA cruises effective immediately, we also had a voice mail before the cruise advising us of the change.

There is a trolley now that runs to the shopping areas.

Honolulu Pier Change effective 3/17/07

Miami - March 14, 2007 ---

Please be advised that beginning March 17,2007, Pride of Aloha, Pride of America, Pride of Hawaii and Wednesday sailings of Norwegian Wind will be departing from the Pier 2 Cruise Terminal at the Honolulu Harbor. The pier is located at the end of Channel Street at 521 Ala Moana Blvd, and is adjacent to the Foreign Trade Zone #9.

Saturday sailings of Norwegian Wind will now depart from Pier 10/11 Aloha Tower Market Place.

Thanks for this information. When you say "a trolley runs to shopping areas", do you know exactly where it goes? I'm hoping to get to, or close to, Chinatown.

We saw the trolley getting on our bus Sunday, it says Honolulu Shopping, I'm not sure if it was for the Mall or Aloha Towers.

Does anyone know how much it is to take the trolley?

I found the brochure I picked up at Pier 11 when we disembarked, the trolley is free and will drop you off at Irwin Memorial Park, across from the Aloha Tower Marketplace. It does not say how often it runs.

DebraDot:

I am curious as to why the pier has been changed. Anyone know? There must be a benefit for them to make a permanent change.

My guess is financial, it is also easier to access the pier by the buses, less traffic.

We docked at Pier 2, not 11 (10 and 11 are the old Pier #, the NCL Wind will still use 10, 11)

Which Pier will the Sun use when she is there on the 28/29 of Sept this year? Anyone know?

Celebrity Cruise Lines was in port Sunday when we arrived and they used Pier 10, next to Aloha Tower Marketplace.

Sorry I was a bit vague. I meant to ask, does anyone know which Pier the NCL Sun will use when she's in port on Sept 28/29, 2007?

Norwegian Sun will not be going to Hawaii. After the Alaska season, it'll be going to Miami.

I just got the tickets for our April 28 sailing on POAm and the tickets are printed leaving from Pier 10 & 11. I'm sure the shuttle company can find the ship to drop us off-it's rather large and hard to miss. But NCLA doesn't seem to be up to date with the information they are giving their passengers.

Does anyone know how far it is from Pier 11 to Pier 7? We are docking at Pier 11 and need to pick up a tour at Pier 7.....

Cat

About 100 yards (give or take). It's all in the same shopping center.

I believe the original intent was for NCL's ships to use pier 2. It recently underwent rennovations and they were waiting for them to be completed.

Here are the scheduled arrivals and departures

http://kumu.icsd.hawaii.gov/dot/harbors/oahu/2007cruise.htm

On the above site the listed arrival in Honolulu for the Carnival Spirit is September 30th but it does not list a pier - however the departure date is supposed to be Oct 1st not October 2nd as listed from Pier 11..

Does that mean she will arrive at Pier 11 or move to it after arrival?

Wld appreciate knowing if Pier 11 is next to the Aloha Tower...

Thanks in advance..

I can answer the second question easier than the first, yes 11 is next to Aloha Tower and the market place. Not sure why they have it listed as 3 days, but they also have the April sailing as 3 days. We were on the Infinity in 2004 and docked at pier2 the first day, then moved to 11 that night, so yes they do move the ships. At that time renovations to pier 2 weren't complete, so maybe that's why we moved to 11 for those coming on for the return trip to the mainland. I'm guessing it's pier 11 for the Carnival for both days????

Did some investigating and the reason was so simple I am a 'dolt' not to have figured it out...likely applies to April sailing also. The ship overnites from arrival day the 30th until the 1st then boards pax for the next cruise - Haw to US - then stays overnite again for them then departs on Oct 02 - hence the 3 days...

Thanks again for responding with the info re: Pier 11..much appreciated..

Have a joyous Easter.

I should have known that, in 1998 we were on the Jubilee, sailing out of Honolulu and did exactly the same thing, that is stayed overnite and the ship was there the night before we embarked, so I'm in that "dolt" category too.:(
