Brahmama Posted March 26, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2007 Really want to stay 2 or 3 nights in NYC before our cruise. Has anyone done that? I can find a hotel ok (staying there in May) but can't figure out for the life of me how to get to the Cruise Terminal in NJ? There will be 4 of us. (seniors) How can we do it without spending a fortune?

smeyer418 Posted March 27, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 27, 2007 Hire a car service such as Tel-Aviv or Carmel. Cabs will charge you double because a NY cabbie cannot pick up a fare in New Jersey. The also can't pick up at EWR but the TLC commission has set the fee as meter plus $15.00 to EWR. I have asked them to do the same thing double would be ok, as would be less than the $100.00 cabbies reportably ask. Its only a few miles from the Holland tunnel to the Port Liberty. The problem is they can charge whatever they want and refuse to go. NJ cabs coming to NY can't pick up either and from EWR the fare is pretty reasonable(about the same as it is from JFK)... www.nyc.gov/tlc
