worf3 Posted March 30, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2007 Anyone got a tried and true style or make?? I can't find anything that I like. Either they bag, sag, rumple, straps are too thin, too thick, bands are too thin, or ride up. Underwire or not?
karen sharpe Posted March 30, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2007 Outside of custom made, for the full bodied woman this is the best in my bra quest that I have found so far...Wonder Bra # 7422.
happysinglemom Posted March 30, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2007 Anyone got a tried and true style or make?? I can't find anything that I like. Either they bag, sag, rumple, straps are too thin, too thick, bands are too thin, or ride up. Underwire or not? Someone else's "tried and true" won't neccessarily work for you. We are all different sizes and shapes...and we all wear bras differently. I love VS Body By Victoria Full Coverage, but others will say that bra does not fit them well. I have many other styles I like too, but that is my absolute best-fitting everyday favorite. You need to go to a good bra dept such as Nordstrom, and let the trained clerks work their magic. ;)
Cruzfan34 Posted March 31, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 31, 2007 I also wear VS Body by Victoria full coverage bra. I love it. I had a pink one and a beige one. On our last cruise, I ruined the beige one because I wore a new teal-colored tshirt and the color bled on my bra. I was so upset. I replaced it immediately when I got home. The Angels bras fit pretty well, also. And I'd also like to try the Secret Embrace bra. It looks like it would have good coverage and support. And they have the prettiest spring colors right now. Y'all are making me want to run out to Victoria's Secret right now!!!!:D
BlueHerons Posted March 31, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 31, 2007 I agree with happysinglemom; you need to go to the bra department of a major department store and have one of their sales people fit you. They are trained to do just that.

I was wearing a newly purchased VS Secret Embrace push up (which I absolutely love) to a function where alcohol flowed freely and some drunk b**** bumped into my DH and then spilled her cranberry whatever all over me. I was furious. I immediately went to get cleaned up but never thought to check out my bra. Long story short, I have a rather large purple stain on it. I still wear it, but not under anything light. I sure hope I don't get in an accident.
Nitra Posted March 31, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 31, 2007 I am very large breasted, 38J,the best line I have found is Goddess. If they are bagging, riding up etc etc, then it does not fit right. Measure and order one that is really the size you need and you will be amazed. I finally did this and stopped buying them in stores, I get mine from herroom.com or barenecessities.com. I look at their size charts for each brand, in some I need one size while in others another size altogether. VS does not make a bra that fits me at all. critterchick Posted March 31, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 31, 2007 Wacoal bras are wonderful! Had a proper fitting at Nordstrom (VS was a joke - measured me with my shirt on) and have been hooked on them ever since. Nordstrom also carries a nice French line ($$$$) but they don't quite fit me. Empress Bubbles Posted March 31, 2007 #10 Share Posted March 31, 2007 Anyone got a tried and true style or make?? I can't find anything that I like. Either they bag, sag, rumple, straps are too thin, too thick, bands are too thin, or ride up. Underwire or not? I am on the VERY top-heavy side and have had a terrible time with finding a bra that fits properly. I finally went to a bra and lingerie boutique and was fitted by a specialist. I found out that I was wearing the wrong size bra. I was trying to fit myself into a DD cup (which SEEMED to fit) when I am truly a F-G cup depending on the bra. Finding the right size made all the difference in comfort.
CruisinMommas Posted March 31, 2007 #11 Share Posted March 31, 2007 I usually go to Omar the tent maker, but prefer Goddess brand. They have quite a selection. Most stores can not help me. I am awaiting the Nordstrams that is coming our way in about a year or so. Good luck.
ajpack Posted March 31, 2007 #12 Share Posted March 31, 2007 My vote goes to Wacoal Body Suede.....pricey, but well worth it. Second choice is Chantelle.
caviargal Posted March 31, 2007 #13 Share Posted March 31, 2007 As a 34DD it is a challenge to find great support and also feminine style. Wacaol and Chantalle are tops for me. A professional fitting 5 years ago really helped as well. Since I wear a narrow band size in relation to cup size, it helped to identify bras that were cut right for me. RI-Sailor Posted March 31, 2007 #14 Share Posted March 31, 2007 I just go thru the "ordeal" once a year or so...buy 4 to 6 bras in whatever fits and start the shopping all over when they need replacing! No magic, just try style after style until I find one. Maybe that's why I find it such an ordeal! :o
Rare cruisemom42 Posted March 31, 2007 #15 Share Posted March 31, 2007 Wacoal is one of my standards. Can't beat them for a good, comfortable everyday bra.
julieanne Posted March 31, 2007 #16 Share Posted March 31, 2007 I love a camisole bra. I don't know if the ones you are talking about are the same? This way I have a smooth line, no back bulges, look great under everything and very comfortable. Dillard's has some very nice ones......
Wadadli1 Posted April 1, 2007 #17 Share Posted April 1, 2007 Can anyone tell me why my bra straps perpetually fall off my shoulders? I mean, most of my life I've been pulling them up, and I've got pretty broad shoulders from my swimming team days in junior high school. I've got some new bras that fall off less than any others, but they fall, too. I welcome any and all suggestions.
kidznp Posted April 1, 2007 #18 Share Posted April 1, 2007 I have the same problem and saw a segment on "What Not To Wear" where a woman was getting a bra fitted. She said that the "band" is too large and that caused the problem. I changed from a 38C to a 36D and it really did make a difference. The Body by Victoria collection (shaping demi and lightly padded) are great for everyday wear. I also love the tank tops by Bali and TravelSmith with the built in underwire bra. Wish I would have thought of that.....

If your straps fall down, then the bra is not the proper size - it does not fit you, and sounds like you are repeatedly buying the wrong size. Go get fitted, as we have suggested above. feistytigger Posted April 1, 2007 #21 Share Posted April 1, 2007 for those who wear "odd" sizes (like me!) check out figleaves and bravissimo (websites). they are great! freya is a mfr i like - just wish they made truly smooth bras. grr.
mikesxwife Posted April 1, 2007 #22 Share Posted April 1, 2007 worst shopping trip ever...after u find some fit ones.they all expire! and it's bk to the hunt again Is that not the truth!! Very frustrating. I do not like Victoria Secrets for undergarments, they are cheap, and definately for the slim and limber at heart:D Ok for a night out, but for the long haul, I do prefer something of better quality, and I don't mind breaking the bank to do it for underwear. My girls require a good supportive bra. Body By Victoria Unlined Full Coverage is definitely not an inferior quality bra, and it is very VERY supportive. I wear a 34D, and I have about 7 of these bras (I love the colors) and I absolutely live in them. For good support and comfort, and a bra that has a "natural" look (I cannot stand the padded/formed cups) it is the best bra I have ever found. It isn't a fancy bra, but it is exactly what I want for an everyday bra. Obviously it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is a quality bra, and holds up very well.
