Kindlychap Posted April 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2007 My mother and I are travelling on the Johann Strauβ this coming May. Other than a Nile Cruise, it is the first time that I have been on a River Cruise. I'm assuming that there is no objection to leaving the ship at ports and exploring on one's own? Tipping raises itself in any cruising context. Has anyone who has been on this boat any useful comments to make? The itinerary is Budapest to Vienna. Any hints and tips? The trip is titled The Music of Vienna and Budapest includes both Figaro and Zauberflöte. The last evening in Vienna appears problematic! Rare steamboats Posted April 3, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2007 Matthew, I only know that the Johann Strauss is owned by a Munich Investment Company but I don´t know who is operating the ship right now. I once read an article about this ship and it sounded very good. I doubt that anyone on this board has been on before. steamboats
