Need your help.

We've been looking for hotel rates and everything is about $250 or more. Way too much for our budget right now. lol We would like to come into SanJuan, PR friday 6/1 checking out 6/3 to get on the destiny that afternoon.

Does anyone have any links of a decent hotel with decent rates, even any bed and breakfast close to the cruise port??

HOPE YOU GUYS CAN HELP!!

Tinkerbell-

I'd head over to the Ports of Call boards for San Juan. There's alot of conversations about Hotels and even a sticky from the moderator about winning bids on Priceline for them.

Those boards gave me priceless information for my tours, hotels, restaurants, etc. when I was planning.

Good Luck!

Although we won't be on the Destiny, we booked the San Juan Marriott Resort and Stellaris casino on the beach for $140.00 a night on priceline when we sail the Crown Princess in December. It's right on the beach....pretty good price:)

I stayed at the Comfort Inn, in Condado. It's a short drive from the airport and to the ship. The beach is one block away so just a short walk to the beach, stores and retraunts. It wasn't the greatest hotel but it was clean and quiet. The morning breakfast was very basic but it worked. We didn't go but it's also a quick taxi ride to Old San Juan. The price was the best I coould find at the time.

If you are looking for comfort and closeness to the Pier #4 I would suggest the Sheraton Old San Juan, which is across the Pier. You can also try the

Condado

Holiday Inn Express

Mariott

San Juan Hotel

Condado Plaza

These are pretty close to the pier but not walking distance

Isla Verde Area this need a cab ride to the pier but its closer to the beach

Let me know if you have any more questions, hope I have helped a bit

I have a question for you.

Where would be a good place for dinner within walking distance from the Mariott?

It all depends on what you want, for instance there is a sushi restaurant about 3-4 minutes walking distance from exiting the Mariott and turning to the right, Its called Cherry Blossom, Ive heard it is very good, there are also local restaurants with a variety of foods, let me know what your likings are and I might help you find a couple of them

The Sheraton is very expensive and for what you get waaayyy overpriced.

Also, when looking at hotel prices remember most don't include taxes and tourist fees and these aren't cheap either.

I stayed at the Marriott last August after our Destiny cruise. The beach is beautiful and the pool area very nice. There was only one restaurant at the time for dinner and it was on the pricy side.

Hi,

We always spend 2 days prior to cruising at the departure port. We always book through Carnival. Just call and tell them you wish to stay in a hotel for the 2 days prior. We are on this cruise in October and Carnival booked us at the Cornaldo Plaza near old San Juan. Call Carnival direct and see what they can come up with for you. We always get beautiful reservations through Carnival.

Try priceline! I didn't use it for this trip but I have used it before and it does save you alot of money. I have the Sheraton booked for our pre-cruise and the Hampton Inn for our post-cruise. I felt I got decent prices so I didn't use priceline this time but I have read alot of people get great deals in San Juan using Priceline.

What do you typically pay for those extra two days through Carnival?

  • 2 months later...

I've got a reservation that I can cancel up to 2 day's prior at the Holiday Inn Expressfor one night. I'm not displeased with this so now I'm playing the Priceline game. I've been offering $100 for a resort and hoping that I'll get a taker. The Holiday Inn Express is my benchmark at $159 for the night.

At 3 month's to go, I'll be down in the $80 or less offering until I get to the last moment to cancel the Holiday Inn Express. :D

That's exactly how you need to play the Priceline game. Don't succomb to the temptation of bidder higher than you would. You will eventually luck out. Patience is the name of the game.

Good Luck !!!!
