GrammaZ Posted April 23, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2007 For those that cruised on her last summer to Alaska, what night is the second formal night? Logically it would be the second last night, the day we are in Ketchikan. But we don't sail until 8:00, does that change it to the night before, the day we are cruising Glacier Bay? It is our parent's 60th wedding anniversary on the night we are in Ketchikan and we are hoping we can celebrate it on the actual date. Thanks. Hi Gramma: Looking at your itinerary, I agree with you that your second formal night would most likely take place on the day you are cruising Glacier Bay. Could you make reservations for 8 pm at the Pinnacle Grill the evening you are in Ketchikan (the actual date of your parents' anniversary)? I wouldn't think you'd have a formal night on your last evening at sea; it would complicate the packing process. That's a very nice itinerary, by the way.:) Happy Anniversary to your parents! Krazy Kruizers Posted April 23, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2007 I also checked your itinerary and do agree - your second formal night will be the day you are in Glacier Bay. Happy Anniversary to your parents.
GrammaZ Posted April 24, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted April 24, 2007 Thanks for the thoughts, that's what I thought. We also are tossing around the Pinnacle for the actual date but there are about 30 of us so not sure I want to obligate my family and parent's friends to the extra cost. The whole week is a celebration with family and friends so one day here or there is really of no consequence but would have been nice if it had worked out. gratefulguy Posted April 24, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 24, 2007 For such a special event, do you suppose HAL could plan a space for you, or even a discount on the Pinnacle? A 60th doesn't happen very often, and I bet the Maitre d' and Chef would relish a chance to show-off their skills. If you used a TA, they might negotiate for you; 30 cruise fares ought to get you something! Happy Cruising
MercedMike Posted April 24, 2007 #6 Share Posted April 24, 2007 If the itinerary is the same as last year, the second formal night was indeed the night of Glacier Bay. It is a wonderful cruise -- check out our trip report and pics at Alaska on the Zuiderdam Have a GREAT cruise!
