Booking On Priceline

I normally start about a month out. When you book and don't get the room you have to wait a certain amount of time before trying again. Hard to say when the rooms are actually released. I imagine that has to do with how booked they are for the time period. I always like to have a reservation I can cancel for back up in case I don't get one.:)

How early should I try and book a hotel with Priceline?

We just got a hotel in San Pedro, CA through Priceline. This was for February 19-20, 2008. We have had good luck bidding eight, or so, months out. After that it seems that the best time to bid is around a month or two from the date of stay.

what time are the rooms usually released to them?

Even if we've had good luck a long ways out, I agree with what 'BeachBumMama' said, "Hard to say when the rooms are actually released. I imagine that has to do with how booked they are for the time period." If they are lagging in projected reservations, at any time, they may release some rooms to get back on track.
