Diamonds and Nassau

Hi All!

 

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a reputable store in Nassau to buy diamonds. This is our 20th wedding anniversary and my husband is planning to buy diamond earings for me on Majesty cruise in May. I want to be able to go to a reputable store and was hoping someone would have a recommendation.

Diamonds International more than likely has a location in Nassau. (Their website is down right now so I couldn't check.) They are a very reputable store and many of their pieces are quite unique.

There are several very fine jewelers in the Atlantis complex. I bought my wife a watch she has wanted for awhile with winnings from the casino there. I will say that the prices are higher in Nassau than in other carib destinations. Congratulations, we will celebrate 15 this year.

Check out prices here in the States, before you go--you need to know if you're actually getting a bargain! That's not always the case!

I have bought a number of pieces from Diamonds International. They have a store right near the port. Its like two blocks up and one over. Make sure you walk out of the store numerous times. That is my job. I keep walking out until the price is what I am willing to pay.

 

And they will drop it. Make sure that once you see a piece you like that you get the manager involved. Because the sales people can only drop the price to a certain degree. Where as the manager can do miracles.

 

Also check tanzanite International they are a sister store. Again very reputable.

 

I have spent 1000's with this company and had them appraised and found that I did get good prices and very good quality

As previous poster said, make sure you do your homework before you leave home. Know your 4 c's and such and make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Also don't forget the shops on the ship. There prices are really pretty good and they had some very unique settings.

One of my favorite jewelry stores anywhere is Coin of the Realm on Bay Street. I have been shopping there for almost 40 years. The store in family owned and the family really has beautiful quality jewelry and coins. It is definitely worth a visit.
