PG ship questions?

Hi Folks!

A couple of general questions I can't seem to find the answer to.

1. Are the doors on the PG metal? We usually but something on our door to help us find our cabin. I doubt we will need it on our deck since there are so few other cabins but we thought it might be fun. Using magnets would be the easiest.

2. What is the voltage onboard? 110 or 220? Are there 3-prong to two prong sockets US style or something else?

3. Any place on the ship where we can go out on deck and look at the stars? So a darker place or out of the way of bright lights.

4. What games are in the casino, table games, slots, video poker/Texas Hold'em? When is the casino open? I know they are usually closed when we are in port.

5. On Saturday, May 19th, will we have time to go the market and get flowers or do any shopping before boarding? Do you think it would be possible to get matching pareo for her and shirt for him combos?

6. Has anyone done the Anniversary/Vow Renewal package that Regent offers? Shhh. I'm thinking of surprising dh. My only hesitation is that with so much available to drink we won't drink the Champagne. Is it a smaller bottle, like a split, for 750 ml?

7. Does the ship have photographers? I know they mention a picture in the vow offering? What about a photographer to do casual pictures say on the sports platform? I'd love a picture of dh in his SCUBA gear but I'm probably not doing any of those excursions with him.

Thanks so much!

Caroline

I can help with some questions.

2. Voltage, you will have both in our cabin, there are a couple of US style sockets and European sockets also.

3. Star gazing, yes go up to deck 8 forward, great place to view the stars. Actually when I was there our cadet (a Kiwi) used to do a star gazing session there every cruise. (He's there now but now he's a second mate).

5. When you board the ship assuming the ship sails at the same time as normal, and depending on what time to actually get there, you should have time to go out and shop. The ship normally sails at 2a.m. because of late flights with paxs on, the ship waits for them.

7. The ship has one photog, he would do a full coverage of weddings etc. and can be quite flexible about doing other stuff (depending on who it is at the time).

I think the doors are metal, easy to put up something

The casino is very small, only one or two tables and a few slots, no texas holdem or the other normal games. It's small,

Caroline,

When we were on the PG I did 3 SCUBA trips. The dive master took digital photos of all of the SCUBA excursions and made a real nice CD. At the end of the cruise he has a reception for all the participants and shows the CD with a projector and sells copies of it. So you should get some great pictures of your DH in action.

As far as stars, with so little ground light in FP, star gazing is great just about anywhere.

I can't remember if the doors are metal or not, but there's a kind of clip on the outside (where they put your daily schedules and what not.) You should be able to hang something from that.

As for the stars, I agree, they are great. I printed out a star chart of the southern hemisphere before our last trip to help orient ourselves. Next time I'd bring a red flashlight so I could actually read it out on deck!

I don't know about the Renewal of Vows but the Honeymoon/Anniversary celebration is a group thing. Celebrants is invited to La Palette for champagne & canapes. They then have a Tahitian blessing with each couple being wrapped in a special cape and blessed. There was photographer there. The ship also sent a small anniverary cake and 2 glasses of champagne to our cabin on the actual day of our anniversary. As far as the Casino goes, yes, it is smaller and I believe they removed most of the slots in drydock. If you are flying to Tahiti on embarcation day, your flight gets in very late and as I remember, the Marche was closed. However, every cabin has a small vase of flowers. You can also ask your Travel Agent to order some or request them from Regent. Our TA sent us a spectacular arrangement that lasted almost for the entire 2 weeks.

I don't remember seing any his & hers outfits in FP like they have in Hawaii. You will be able to shop in Moorea and BoraBora for pareaus. They did have a pareau tying class on the ship and also at the Motu.

See you soon

What time do you arrive? I think the above poster is right, even if you arrive in Papeete around 6:30 or so, I believe the market will be closed. If you take a cab from the airport, you might ask the driver if he could suggest somewhere to buy flowers.

I seem to remember seeing men's shirts made out of the same material as the pareos, so you might find a match. Many of the most beautiful pareos, in my opinion, are from Indonesia, and made of rayon, vivid colours, great designs. Some want the genuine article, but all I ever found there was a cotton one that had been tie-dyed. I love the rayon ones.
