Post tours from Vancouver to Lake Louise

After we disembark Radiance of the Seas in Vancouver, some members of my trip want to take a train to Lake Louise. Has anyone done this or have any experience with train tours to Lake Louise from Vancouver? Is this something you can do as a day trip, or would you have to stay near the lake and then take the train back to Vancouver. Thanks!

Lake Louise is a ten hour drive from Vancouver - okay maybe 8. There is no train that goes there, closest would be to Banff but it would take longer. Rent a car in Vancouver, drive out to Lake Louise/Banff and stay for a couple of days. If you haven't booked a flight yet, try and get a flight out of Calgary (which is only two hours from Lake Louise) and you could drop off your rental car there, but check the drop off fees first.
