All Things Mariner Of The Seas

Recommended Posts

We were on the Mariner last December. Both Chops and Portifinios were up and well then. We ate at Chops and did the Mistery Dinner at Portifinios. Also, they did have the Family Dance Night by the Pool. Don't worry, it wasn't very crowded. If I recall it was at the same time as the Comedian show and most people were in there. She is a beautiful ship and I will miss her. She was our families first vacation ever. Of course the upside is I now have an excuse to go to California and sail her new itenerary. hmmm? I wonder what her new Itenerary will be?

Would you recommend the mystery dinner show, what was it like?

Mariner was dry docked last year, and it got new carpeting and the new bedding that RC has done fleet wide (I think). They didn't get flat panel tv's.

The ship is lovely, and we can't wait to sail on her next month!

This is a lot of first for me too!

First time on RCL

First time on Mariner

First vacation with my GF and two kids

First time trying to be a parental unit to two teenage girls! (thus the balding and greying at 35)

First time Staci has been out of the U.S.

First time I've given my heart totally to 3 ladies yet alone 1!

With this being said...I am looking for proposal Ideas. So I am asking you...the CC members to help me out. What proposal ideas do you have. Keep in mind I have 3 rings..one for her and her two daughters. Ages are 41, 14, and 17. Lets hear them!!

Formal night you could get the waiters involved and have it delivered to the table. I have heard that the helipad off the 4th deck is really a beautiful view of the ocean. Maybe at night under the stars? You are home free no matter what you choose. We were on Mariner last September and it was a great trip. We sail her again in August. Best wishes to you and your new family!!!!

Just got off the Mariner yesterday 5-4-08 and instead of posting a review I thought I'd post some random thoughts in here:

-great ship

-enjoyed Drew Devine and the captain Johnny added to the entertainment

-really like the love today song they play before shows

-enjoyed the Q&A with the crew on day 7

-the 19th hole is always empty, I enjoyed grabbing a few beers and watching some soccer

-people I talked to seemed like they were looking forward to Los Angeles, excepty my head waiter, said he will look for a transfer to a FL ship

-is anna banana really her name?

-overall it was a great cruise

We loved the love song too! We downloaded it when we got home and play it all the time! It really does the job to get the crowd pyched, doesn't it!!

The helipad on the bow opening is subject to weather conditions.

As we travelled to SJ in Jan 08 , it was was closed until the morning we were approaching SJ . They always had it closed at night (when at sea) a safety issue . The same happened when we were going to Labadee the next week.

We are going on the Mariner next month to the Eastern Caribbean. I can't wait! But my question is: what is Jade? I get the impression that it is an Asian style restaurant. Is it similar to the Seaview Cafe on the Radiance class?

Whatever it is, I am looking forward to checking it out. :D

If you want to do your proposing in public, i like the waiters idea, but i would go for 3 waiters so each very lucky lady could be presented a ring at the same time. You might also ask the hotel manager to speak to the Capt and have him do a presentation at the Captains cocktail party. Formal night seems just the ticket. Wish we were sailing with you, but since we sail on Nov 9, i want to wish you the biggest CONGRATULATIONS THERE ARE:D :D :D

Its the first section of the Windjammer buffet, it features Asian style foods.

Hi All,

Hoping for responses here, planning late, wasn't sure of college age son's summer schedule. Both Carnival and RCI offer an excellent product, but "heard through the grapevine", and please don't flame me, that RCI has a curfew on kids. My 13 year old really enjoys being out later than normal on a cruise, and wondering if the curfew rumor is true. RCI reps say they haven't heard of it, and Carnival doesn't have a curfew for kids. My 13 year old will be disappointed if I choose RCI, and the rumor is true.

Please respond, planning our June 15th cruise (I know kinda late) and would love to be on the Mariner.

And our waiter mentioned that on the "extra kiddos" cruises, the staff can volunteer to be deputized and make extra pay as additional security. The waiter said the wild kiddo problem is getting worse over time; kiddos running up and down the corridors at all hours banging on doors for example.

And the kiddos are not supposed to ride the elevators unsupervised.

1 AM for all children 17 and under.

Thanks for the quick responses. 1am, imo is a reasonable time, and will certainly be late enough for my kids, so if hubby's "on board", as in $$$,

we'll hopefully be on the Mariner for the June 15th sailing!!!

She looks like such a beautiful ship. Thanks again.

My daughter who will be 16½ when we cruise next April wasn't too excited to hear the 1:00 AM curfew. But since this time she and I will be sharing a cabin together (not staying with her cousins or friends), I'll be able to know when she's back in the cabin and not out wandering around.

Actually, I'm a bit of a night owl, myself, so I'm often in the casino playing the penny slots or eating a midnight snack. So, she's welcome to join me (except for gambling). I doubt that she will, though. I just hope she won't go to anyone's cabin! I would rather have her out sitting in a public area chatting with friends then inside someone's stateroom. We'll be having a serious talk before our cruise! It was soooo much easier when she wasn't a teenager. She always hung out in the kids' club or with a friend. That was before the hormones kicked in, of course. :p

The Mariner of the Seas is a fantastic ship

It had everything to offer for all age groups. The service was good, the food was good.

Truly sorry it is leaving Port Canaveral next year,

And I'm truly happy she's being based out of L.A. it's all a matter of perspective and where you live.

I think it depends on whether it is the Eastern or Western Caribbean itinerary.

My understanding is that on Western, the formal nights are Monday (Sea Day), and Thursday (Grand Cayman).

anyone know for sure?

Thanks,

Mary

yes, you are right about the formal nights. Are you leaving on June 1? We are too! Have you come over to the roll call yet? Also you should sign up for the meet and mingle for our cruise.

Cruisinhs - yes, we are leaving June 1. it's our daughter's wedding cruise! and she will be getting married in port before we set sail. we'll have about 30 guests total, and so fare everything looks wonderful.

she and I have both signed up for the meet & mingle, but she's the only one who's been active on the roll call.

GoodAsGold - I just loved your line "It was soooo much easier when she wasn't a teenager". Were truer words ever spoken  . All ours are out of the teenager stage now, and it's is sooo great!.

I'm sure we'll all have a great time :)

Cheers,

Mary

Yeah....I also have 32 year old twin girls, so I've been through it before. But, nowadays there's so much more technology, ie; cell phones, computers, etc. This, too, shall pass! (Or kill me!) :)
