Rare geoherb Posted April 1, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 1, 2004 I know that on Princess ships, the drinking age is 21. The website says, "No alcohol may be purchased or consumed by any Passengers under the age of 21."
PH8 Posted April 1, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 1, 2004 On RCCL ships, 18-20 yr olds can buy beer and wine.. RCCL Serenade--5/30--Alaska RCCL Jewel--10/28--repositioning **RCCL SOS-8/27/04** Carnival Miracle-2/13/05**
Urban trekker Posted April 1, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 1, 2004 Go to Vacations to goand click on age requirements - it details the various cruise lines policies regarding liquor. Also where are you cruising because most countries other than the USA have lower than 21 drinking age so he may be able to hoist a couple in port. tn1728 Posted April 1, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 1, 2004 In the same 'boat'- my son and daughter will be 19 & 20 as their official ages on the cruise. I am pretty sure that I read that parents can sign a waiver for their children between the ages of 18-20 to drink wine and beer on Celebrity. tn1728 Posted April 1, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 1, 2004 Found this on the Celebrity FAQ age requirements Does Celebrity Cruises have a minimum drinking age for consumption of alcoholic beverages? Celebrity will not serve alcoholic beverages while a vessel is at sea to guests under 18 years of age. In port, the minimum drinking age is 18 or 21 in accordance with local legal age limitations. No alcoholic beverages may be purchased ashore for consumption on board. Parents may sign a waiver permitting their 18 to 20 year old children to drink beer and wine onboard. tiggypooo Posted April 1, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 1, 2004 I'm sure that I read that on all RCCL Alaskan cruises only the age to buy alcohol is 21. All other is 18. My 19 yr. old daughter is disappointed about that.
Urban trekker Posted April 2, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 2, 2004 If you are sailing from Vancouver your 19 and 20 year old will be able to enjoy a drink in one of the many fine pub/restaurants in the city as BC's drinking age is 19. Same for Victoria. Don't know about RCLL being different on Alaska cruise but much of the cruising is in Canadian waters. cydspal Posted April 2, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 2, 2004 Not to get too political, but if they are old enough to hold an M-16 rifle and fight for this country...why can't they hold a beer?
Chippsetter Posted April 2, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 2, 2004 Once they are in Alaskan waters the minimum drinking age is 21 and the state law allows those who provide alcohol to under age people to be arrested. We have no such thing as signing a waiver. As for much of the cruising being in Canadian waters if you are doing a round trip out of Vancouver 2 days out of 7 is in canadian waters and a one way has 1 out of 7. jande Posted April 3, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 3, 2004 While we are on this topic, does anyone know if the Infinity sells " drink tickets "( X amount of drinks for x amount of $)? The Radiance of the Sea does and it is really nice! Janice till Infinity
luv_2cruise Posted April 4, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 4, 2004 This is a quote from Royal Caribbean's website "The parent or legal guardian of a guest who is from 18-20 years of age may sign a waiver permitting such guest to be served beer or wine while in international waters." I'm assuming that very little, if any of the Alaska cruise routes go into international waters. 5/30/04 Serenade of the Seas to Alaska
