Noordam aft verandah VA or VB?

Has anyone stayed in VB4178 or VB4185 on the Noordam? The deck plans make those rooms look about 3 feet shorter than the four VA cabins between them. We are trying to decide between those cabins or maybe the aft cabins on Deck 5. There are still several available on each deck.

Also, since the Deck 4 rooms are right above the dining room, has anyone ever had problems with noise from the dining room or from people walking on the Promenade deck just below you?

Thanks for your advice!:)

The VB's aren't so much shorter than the VA's than the VA's are longer than the VB's (slightly longer than standard sofas in the aft-VA's, IIRC)

As far as noises from below: Either there's no noise from below, or the low rumble of the engines/pods drowns out any people noises.

BTW - 4185 is an aft-corner SC (Deluxe Suite) You mean VB4183...

On paper it may look that way. But friends of ours were in a VB on Oosterdam, and we had an aft VA, 5182. The only thing noticably larger was our veranda which was roughly 9x14, theirs looked to be closer to 9x5 or so. The room seemed about the same size

Have stayed in VA4176 on the Noordam.. The VBs 4178/4183 are shorter by about three feet.. This is because to make room for the entrances to the corner SC cabins.. On paper the VBs do look just slightly wider..

Like Brian said, we heard nothing from the dining rm.. Did have some vibration from the propulsion system..

The higher you are, the less noise from the propulsion system and the wake. If it were MY choice, I would choose Deck 5. We have been in SC suites on the Westerdam on Deck 5 and on Deck 7. There is less motion on Deck 5 than Deck 7, but slightly more propulsion and wake noise . Deck 5 suites are slightly larger.

Some of the travel agents tell you the square footage of cabins on their websites if you go almost to the point of booking a stateroom.

Email me at Charlies71mom@hotmail.com if you want that information.

Bulldog, thanks for the information. I just booked VB4178.:D

Just finished our 2nd cruise in 4176.. You will love the location.. Very easy to the common areas below without having to take a elevator..To me deck 4 aft verandas are the best because when you look down all you see is the wake, not another veranda..But lets keep this our little secret..

According to HAL, those VBs on deck 4 are actually 25 sq ft larger than the VAs.

According to HAL the AFT VA cabins on deck 4 are larger. quote from HAL

cabin 4174 is 237 sq ft (Not including the veranda)

Cabin 5186 is 223 sq ft

Cabin 6173 is 194 sq ft

We will be in cabin 4174 on the 2/27 sailing

Bill, you are correct. Sounds like a plan!:)

We had VB4178 on the Noordam. there was plenty of room for us andd our four adult children to sit on our balconey with tables for our cocktails. We spent lot's of time out there. No problem with noise from dining room. We did feel some slight vibration but nothing bothersome. We would not hesitate to recommend the aft VB cabins...A great value!
