Closest Airport To Galveston

Thinking about the Conquest for January...What is the closest airport? Flying in from Maryland.

William P. Hobby (HOU) is on the southside of Houston and closer than Bush

(IAH) by about 30-45 minutes.

It is about 45 miles.

 

Gulfcoast limo picked us up at Hobby and we were at the ship in slightly less than an hour including a stop at a large supermarket to pick up beer and tonic water.

Flights may however be cheaper (since there are more options) out of Bush International

It happened to be just the opposite out of Atlanta in February. The fares to HOU were better than those to IAH on Delta.

We did Glory this year and rented a car to port from Orlando. I would like to avoid a long drive this time, but it would be nice to see Galveston & the Conquest.

I want to remind everyone the dangers of flying into Houston the morning of the cruise. I returned home on a business trip from Newark, N J to Dallas, TX. Due to mechanical problems my flight was canceled. I was lucky in catching another flight 4 hours later.

This would be devasting if it happened on the day of your cruise. Remember Hobby airport is a 45 min drive. Houston's IAH airprt is a 2 drive to Galveston. There are also the construction delays on the Galveston causway. :mad:
