carol459 Posted May 25, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2007 We have booked the May 3,2008, Baltic cruise on the Constellation. It is a RT cruise from Harwich, England, and we are investigating airfare costs now. My Question-If you purchase airfare from Celebrity, do they fly you in a day early(this would be from LAX to Heathrow)?? Does anybody have any experience with purchasing Celebrity air for a European cruise? Any input would be appreciated. pcur Posted May 25, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2007 They may not unless you purchase the pre-cruise package. We've flown out of LAX twice to Heathrow, and there is an afternoon nonstop that gets in at 9:30 AM in the morning. It's British Airways. We took this flight last month, and the later flight out of LAX, arriving around 11 AM in Heathrow the first time. Flight time was 10.5 hours. That's if you're lucky and they don't put you on a flight to NY or somewhere else, and then to Heathrow. That takes a lot more time. We cruised with Celebrity out of Southampton recently, and I opted to get my own air, hotel, and transpo to the port. The cost with them was too high for the transfers to the airport, even without the hotel stay pre-cruise, which was pretty expensive, too. It all depends on whether the cost is of concern to you. If you want the air, pre-cruise, and transfers, then tell them you want nonstop out of LAX. British Airways runs a special several times a year that includes 2 nights in a hotel in London included in your air. We did this on our first trip. This last time (4/18/07 to 5/3/07) we got our own hotel and used National Express for all our transfers with no problems. If you're interested in any of our details, just let me know, as I'm subscribed to this thread.
