Smoke from casino on Legend OTS?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

We are booked for a Med cruise on the Legend of the Seas this summer. Our oceanview cabins (kids in adjoining cabin) are on Deck 3, which I just realized are directly above the casino. The windows don't open. I'm concerned about being able to smell the cigarette smoke from the casino either in the cabin or the hallway when we step out into it.

I'm one of those super-sensitive nonsmokers who can smell cigarettes being smoked in neighboring cars on the freeway.

Has anyone stayed directly above the casino on this ship and were you able to smell the cigarette smoke?

I'm considering trying to switch to a balcony cabin. Yes, I realize the people in the cabin next door may turn out to be smokers. And even though the four of us would be in one room, it would be substantially more expensive.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Regards,

Ann

Just when I thought I have heard it all on these boards. You better switch and never leave your room, you may have to walk through the casino to the theater. And, stay off the highways.

To the two nasty posters who responded to my question: Enjoy your cancer sticks and I'll enjoy the fact that you won't be on my cruise!

My question was legitimate and sent in earnest to a board that has been extremely helpful in the past, and filled with nice folks willing to share their experience. This isn't about my tolerance for your bad habits. It's about respecting one another's space.

I think the posters are very inconsiderate smokers. Call RCL and ask them your question. I have had to switch cabins because they STANK from previous passengers due to smoke. They should feel free to poison themselves but how dare they think they have the right to pollute my lungs too:mad:

There is a several inches thickk steel plate between you and the casino.

You might want to find a smoke free ship, sailing the Med will probably mean a higher percentage of smokers.

You should consider that there may be a higher percentage of smokers on a Med cruise when/if you call RCI.

I've been to Europe (and Asia) many times and understand that Europeans smoke more than Americans. (They are catching on, even in China, that cigarette smoke is a dangerous habit.)

I've no intention of not going on this cruise -- that would be a major over-reaction. My question was simply this: Can you smell the cigarette odors from the particular cabins that we booked? I just checked with RCCL and they assured me you could not. (good suggestion, thanks!) They also said that our rooms are actually closer to the dining rooms than the casino. And the dining rooms are smokefree.

Thanks all --

I don't like smelling the sewer smell in certain areas of ships and I wouldn't like sleeping in a room that smelled like smoke or even food. If the OP doesn't like a smell she's entitled to research her cabin to avoid undesirable smells as much as other people are entitled to research noise from above, etc. when determining their cabin location. Everyone poops and no one gets all offended when other cruisers are trying to avoid sewer stench!

I him a very considerate smoker and as long it was legal to smoke in the cabin (which I don't do) I can pollute your lungs if that is what you think I did. Its discussions like this that prompted me to ask that all smoking threads be banned.

Good points.I don't care for cigarette smoke and did not find it a problem on board. The casino was a little heavy at times but other parts of the ship were fine.................Frank

Why should they pull smoking threads?

Why should they pull smoking threads?

Because any legitimate question concerning smoking on a cruise turns into a comparison of who had the most family deaths from smoking, number of deaths caused every minute from second-hand smoke etc.etc. Does this really have a usefull purpose on these boards, and Iam as guilty as the next person to get involved in this non-cruise related topic.

Well questions about tipping get just as much controversy about how much they earn etc etc etc. As long as it's not a persoanl attack I see no harm in these discussions.

A balcony smoker who is causing lung cancer is not a personal attack? A smoker in a smoking section of the bar is causing severe asthma attacks is not a personal attack? A little different than asking about tipping.

I don't see how my question about whether casino smoke could be smelled from a specific cabin is anything BUT a cruise-related topic.

And as for making personal attacks, sir, this is what YOU wrote:

"Just when I thought I have heard it all on these boards. You better switch and never leave your room, you may have to walk through the casino to the theater. And, stay off the highways."

Maybe next time this board would be better served by a little less venom on your part.

For someone that wants smoking threads to be banned, you sure can't stay away. LMAO!!!!!!!

To the OP, Ann I think that you should be okay with your cabin selection. I would not worry about it.

Your right Iam addicted, I just thought that without the threads, I would't have those guilt feelings on our next cruise that Iam causing every disease know to man-kind.

Actually, your cabins are below the casino......anyway,I wouldnt think you could smell any smoke from the casino itself.......

Dont suppose you can change cabins now, could you(to put your mind at rest)

Annie, my apologies, you are right, your question was very much a cruise related one seeking info. I guess your reference to people smoking in their cars set me off thinking you were going in another direction with smoking issues. Again, my apology
