Solara Posted June 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2007 We are flying into Laguardia the day before our cruise. Don't know where to stay?????? Either near Red Hook in Brooklyn or by the airport. Don't really want to spend a fortune for that one night. Also are there any shuttles services that would take us to the pier the next morning?????? willysgrandma Posted June 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2007 If you go to the East Coast boards there are threads on this. The Brooklyn Marriott is the best suggestion for Red Hook. It is in the nicer are of Brooklyn. There are not many hotels open in that area yet. You will need to take a cab to the pier.

63musicgirl Posted June 5, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2007 We are staying at the Crowne Plaza near the airport. It is $180 which includes tax and everything. They have a shuttle to and from the airport. We will be taking a car service to the airport for between $30-60 plus tips one way. Others in our group are staying at the Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge and that was going for around $225 without taxes etc. Hope this helps. Hotels are pretty expensive so be prepared. TLRSA Posted June 5, 2007 #5 Share Posted June 5, 2007 We sailed on the Crown on the 12th and stayed the P.M. before at the Crowne Plaza at LGA... Free shuttle from airport to Hotel .... Cost was 145.00/ night, then took a limo service (Limo stand right outside the door) for $45 and were at the pier within 30 minutes... You could also take the shuttle back to the airport and grab a yellow cab, which they say is about $35 to the pier... Didn't seem worth the hassle with bag and baggage, so opted for the stretch limo... Enjoy
Colo Cruiser Posted June 5, 2007 #6 Share Posted June 5, 2007 Wish there were more hotels down there so the prices at the Marriott Brooklyn Bridge would be more competitive. It is so high. :)
Solara Posted June 5, 2007 Author #7 Share Posted June 5, 2007 Thanks for the info on the hotel near the airport. Usually we are only concerned with getting to the ship the next morning. Yes I'd love to see Manhattan but not for that kind of money when we won't arrive till the afternoon anyway. I want to stay at the Marriott Brooklyn Bridge but the best rate I can get right now is $316 plus taxes., seems alot for just one night. The airport hotels are more in line with what I'm thinking. Don't really want to spend a fortune for that one night. Also are there any shuttles services that would take us to the pier the next morning?????? We flew in late at night, so a hotel near the airport made sense, and the flight was over an hour late - got in at 11:00 PM. Marriott picked us up and has a great sports pub for a late meal. Corporate leisure rate was $170. Next morning asked the bellboy to get us a towncar. He turns on a light and the next one pulls in from the lot across the street. Took about 45 minutes to pier for $35 plus tip. Got the driver's business card and called him from ship when we returned and he picked us up at the curb (not in the towncar area - only certain company cars allowed in there).
