Celebrity & the Mediterranean

Did Celebrity ever leave the Mediterranean? (In fact even that question assumes that Chandris were there before it become 'Celebrity', which may be wrong.)

 

What I'm actually trying to get a feel for, is the extent to which Celebrity's european deployment is new and has been built up in recent years. This year we have, I think, four ships in Europe: Century mainly in northern europe, Galaxy doing 10 & 11 night cruises from Rome into the Aegean, Connie in northern Europe and Millie doing the 12-night Barcelona/Venice transits. But how recent is all this activity? I've only been looking at Celebrity since September 2005, so I just don't know how new all of this is. Anyone with a longer perspective than mine who can answer my questions?

I know that Celebrity has been in Med since at least 2000. The 2002 season most cruise lines canceled their cruises in Med due to 9/11. We were aboard Millenium in 2003 and again last year in the Med.
