Italy 52.... You are right it does say that....but it is for Executive Club Level which is probably something above rack rate. We have two rooms reserved at the employee rate which is only $39.00 U.S. so I doubt if that will qualify. Thanks

Granted it was a few years ago, but we ate at a fabulous Greek restaurant. I think it was Stepho's on Davie St. Fabulous calamari. Great prices. Very popular with the locals.

If you like Italian, Borgo Antico is very good. It's on Water Street at the beginning of Gastown. The Water Street Cafe is very good too, although I haven't been there for a couple of years. Any Earls restaurant is a good bet - great food and reasonable prices. There's one on Kingsway fairly close to Metrotown.

In the event you feel like a special dinner "A Kettle of Fish" was a wonderful dining experience.

We were there several years ago and I remember the experience well.

Add on for affordable downtown restaurant - for Pasta try the "Macaroni Grill" on Davie Street. Located in a wonderful old mansion (built by the Roger Family (Roger's Sugar)) Herre you will get a great pasta meal for a very reasonable price in a wonderful location.

For great seafood try The Cannery on Commissoner Street. From the restaurant you look out over the Vancouver harbour and often spot seals & otters playing in the water. Occasionally if you are very lucky a tug boat captain from RivTow Straits (next Door) will entertain you with a tug boat dance!!! Plus the food is excellent. I rarely order fish out as most restaurants overcook the fish + do not start with FRESH seafood. Having lived for some years in a fishing community on the west coast I am very picky about my seafood.

BCHappyGal At the Cannery, do they serve meat also? My husband loves fish, I do not. If we go out to a fish place, we try to go to a surf and turf so we are both happy. Thanks in advance for your help.

In today's Vancouver Sun, there was an article on good food in unlikely places (reader submissions). Here is the link:
http://www.canada.com/vancouver/story.html?id=da1dca9d-77a3-47ee-9823-e5edb5ff516d

I have another suggestion: Although not a 'mom and pop' place by any means, Cardero's (next to Bayshore Inn overlooking marina near Stanley Park)serves a fantastic (wild) salmon burger for $10.95 Canadian (served with a nice salad or homemade fries). This place is quite "happening" and attracts both locals and visitors. We just ate there tonight.

On our way home (about 730pm) we saw Carnival Spirit heading out as we crossed the Lion's Gate - beautiful. We are going on the Zaandam on July 3, first Alaska cruise for us.

I got this from a post here somewhere but go to entertainment .com and purchase the book for only $9.99. It has lots of buy one get one free and many restaurants in and around Vancouver. Also has 50% off on the trolley tours ,Aquarium,Science world, Capilano bridge and more. I thought it was a great deal and got it in Two days!!

If you want to sightsee & eat in one - try the Restaurant at the top of Grouse Mountain.
We have been a couple of times - small restaurant reservations vital I would think.
Added bonus is that you get your "lift" ride to the top for free - not too sure what happens if you pay for ride &then decide to eat?
Food was vv good (top London Restaurant standard) but no guarentee of a window seat.

Another good place = Brewhouse in Yaletown - good food & local beer.

Take the ride up,but save your money-don't eat there. Typical tourist attraction food-overpriced and not very good.

Where are some good places to go to eat in Vancouver that are fun for kids (age 11 and 16) and also have good food and are casual? We have been to Old Spaghetti Factory in Gastown and eaten at Granville Island previously. Would appreciate any good suggestions you might have. Staying at the Pan Pacific.

This place is fun for kids-if they eat meat.

Any Keg or Earls are good as well as White Spot or Red Robin. Monk McQueens likes kids and so do Chinese Restaurants. If the like Dim Sum-Floate in Chinatown is huge and fun to watch with all the trollys of food.

Time for another Cruise!

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>Although I'm told the best dim sum is now in Richmond. Any experience with Richmond Chinese places? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>We venture into Richmond regularly to eat and buy Asian groceries. Good places for dim sum in Richmond:
- Neptune Sharkfin Seafood (think that's the English name) in the same shopping centre as Chapters on No. 3 Road and Ackroyd;
- Sun Siu Wah;
- Maple Garden Hot Pot, though we weren't as happy with it last time;
- Kirin (but on the $$$ side)
- there's also a new place by Tom Lee Music at the north end of No.3 Road (will have to check out the English name next time we drive by)

Something you should be aware of - esp. if you go on the weeked - most places in Richmond give a discount on dim sum dishes if you go early - ie. before 11 am, but you really need to get there by 10 before the crowds arrive.

Thanks for the reply on the harbor tower restaurant. We are all ghoing there the first day we arrive to get a feel of the lay of the land. So where would you go to eat if you first go up the tower and then take a walk somewhere for dinner and then taxi back to hotels? This would be for dinner as we arrive in vc around 1pm

Gypsy,

What kind of food do you like? There are so many good restaurants in Vancouver, it's hard to recommend just one without knowing what your preferences are.

We are foodies!!! Restaurant and hotel people so we like all kinds as long as it is really good and the service is also. Being from the gulf coast of Florida seafood is one of our favorites, but a good steakhouse or asian is great too. Italian is our favorite to cook at home but we love to try good authentic Italian when we travel.
Thanks
