Local Restaurants

There are several nice resturants in Fairbanks, some poor ones too. :) Depends on where you are staying, since it's a big city and you don't have any transportation??? Are you willing to cab?

As for Talkeetna- The Roadhouse is excellent for breakfast and lunch. Soup and fresh bread sometimes available until they run out in the evening. I like the Latitude for dinner. The Latitude does have a bar. This is outside of town however.

We're on a land tour before the cruise in a few days...Was wondering what good local restaurants/bars to visit while in Fairbanks and Talkeetna. Thank you.:D

Here are two restaurants in Fairbanks that we enjoyed a great deal during our stay last summer.

The Pump House ,(www.pumphouse.com). Pretty location right on the Chena River. Casual dress, very popular, tend to get crowded reservations suggested. They also have and a bar & some table on their riverfront deck.

Lavelle's Bistro (www.lavellesbistro.com). Located downtown, across from the visitors center. Higher end establishment, food & service were very good. Worth the additional cost. IMHO

PS: While in Fairbanks, strongly suggest visiting the Museum of The North located @ University of Alaska. Opened last year, has very good exhibits providing insight into the local history & culture.

Have a great time!

If you have your own transportation or don't mind taking a cab there's a wonderful Italian resturant in downtown Fairbanks....Gambardella Pasta Belle or something like that...It was so yummy and the service was great. I love Lasagna and theirs was GREAT !!!
