Guarantee Upgrade??

We just booked a guarantee balcony on Freedom leaving in 2 weeks. The price was substantially less than the regular balcony cabins. We were assigned a cabin today - an E2 category. I'm okay with this, but was really hoping for something a bit higher. Also, we are Diamond but I don't know if this matters to RCCL when assigning cabins. My question is does anyone know if they might upgrade a guarantee higher after a cabin assignment has been made? Thanks.

Once you receive a cabin assignment there is little chance that your cabin will change. Especially this close to sailing.

Anything is possible. We've only ever booked a guarantee once and that time we were assigned a Grand Suite upon final payment. We're also Diamond, not sure how they decide to upgrade or who get's what cabin.

On AOS I booked an inside cabin guarantee and initially was assigned to an oceanview. Closer to the sailing I was upgraded further to a Deluxe Balcony! Quite a deal for booking an inside Gurantee (thank you Ms. Upgrade Fairy). I had cruised with RCL before, but was not at Diamond status.

Since your cruise is in 2 weeks, I would say little chance of an upgrade since most of the cabins must be booked by now. Just my opinion though. We were assigned 7 weeks before the cruise and it didnt change.

When you book on a popular ship it is highly unlikely you will get an upgrade. also unlikely you will get a price drop.
