bwarren Posted April 24, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2004 Has anyone ever done the jeep excursion in Ketchikan that ends with a canoe ride? It sounds great, and I was about to book it, but I thought I'd ask y'all for advice first! bwarren Posted April 25, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 25, 2004 Hmmm...what do you think is the best excursion in Ketchikan (other than those that involve small aircraft!) Wendy Mommy Posted April 25, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 25, 2004 We will be Ketchikan from 6 am-noon, so whatever tour we pick (Diamond Princess) all leave very early. Has anybody ever done the Salmon Falls Jet Boat Excursion or Wilderness Exploration & Crab Feed? Wendy and Kesh Diamond Princess 7/04 (Alaska) Coral Princess 1/04 (Panama Canal) Norwegian Dawn 4/03 (Southern Caribbean) Golden Princess 3/02 (Eastern Caribbean) Radiance of the Seas 1/02 (Southern Caribbean) Norwegian Sun 11/01 (Western Caribbean) Grand Princess 11/00 (Eastern Caribbean)
Budget Queen Posted April 26, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 26, 2004 My "best" probably are flights. Request their visitor guide www.visit-ketchikan.com for ideas?? Native culture is excellent- it's a great walking city. Perhaps pickup the free walking tour map at the dock visitor center?? There is also the Wal mart shuttle bus. Host Caroline Posted April 27, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Salmon Falls- yes.. loved it but love that sort of trip.. If you are "into" native culture etc. you might do the walking thing or go out to Saxman but if not, the kayaking, jet boat etc. are great. Weather that early in the a.m. could be iffy for flying. We have had port calls there early and others that didn't arrive till 10-12:00. It can be very foggy early a.m. but it's unpredictable as is everything weatherwise in Alaska.
