Island Annie Posted June 22, 2007 #27 Share Posted June 22, 2007 1. Would definitely be nice to have more "healthy" foods available most times of the day. (fresh seafood, fresh fruits & veggies, etc) 2. Get rid of the blue & white striped lounge chairs! They are the most uncomfortable chairs I've ever sat in. No flaming please . . . but the dark navy blue lounge chairs on RCCI are probably the most comfortable chairs I've ever sat in:-) 3. Given the length of the newer ships, A moving sidewalk would be nice to see. 4. Actual "steps" that you can walk down to get in & out of the pools rather than climbing a ladder would be Oh so nice:-). 5. Require all bartenders to know how to make a "Mango-Tango". (I discovered this drink on a RCCI ship a few years ago, when I asked for it on my next CCL cruise the bartender said he had never heard of it!) :-( 6.Longer times in port. (if only an additional hour or 2). 7. "Pool Attendants" who could be available to put suntan lotion on your back if asked. (tips optional) 8. Specific cruises that are geared towards "Singles". (Activities that would encourage singles to meet other singles, special "Singles" rates, etc). 9. Bring back the "Single-Share" program.
cruisecruisecruise1234567 Posted June 22, 2007 #28 Share Posted June 22, 2007 Since this seems to be the week of "fun" topics, what could be more fun than building our own ship. What features would you love to see? What do you hate and would eliminate? I'll start: The ship should be around 120,000 tons, big enough to have lots of features but not so large that you become just another face in the crowd. I would feature bigger balconies and full baths (meaning tub/shower instead of just showers) in all standard cabins (including balcony cabins) and mini-suites and suites would have whirlpool baths with seperate showers. I'd also have hot-tubs on the balconies of the full suites. I'd eliminate the Destiny class design - too confusing and often has a "can't get there from here" feeling. I would also cut down on the amount of bars on the ship, few of them are ever full. Ok, now you guys add and suggest A jeans and shorts only dining room:D A photo center,so they are not all over the ship. A gated adults only pool and hot tub needing your key card to enter. An all you can drink lounge:D In room bar setups with shot dispensers,so you no longer need to smuggle to get a drink in your room. A pool that constantly is filled and emptied with sea water so all parents with diaper kids can swim and since the flow is constant, no fecal tea bag:eek:
MzOhioLady Posted June 22, 2007 #29 Share Posted June 22, 2007 The New Ship Has to Have: 1. A Supper Club 2. An Adults Only Cruise 3. Easy Navigation around the ship 4. A Bigger Swimming Pool
neatokimmo Posted June 22, 2007 #30 Share Posted June 22, 2007 Hmmm..I vote for a lazy river that goes all the way around the Lido deck! I'd like to see longer Caribbean cruises, 10-12 would be great :) I love the sushi cart idea. It would be fun to have little snack carts all over with different themed stuff. Sort of like Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival - but it would be free :D
Leo Jay Posted June 22, 2007 #31 Share Posted June 22, 2007 Dimmer switches on all cabin lights, and incandescent lighting only. More shelf space in cabins for storage. RECTANGULAR tables in cabins (instead of the wacky ovals) :) Laundry Room on every deck. Ship designed so that you can walk the length of any deck without having to walk through a smoking area (lounge/casino). All photos taken by CLL uploaded to your account daily to allow viewing/ordering via TV. But keep some kind of gallery, too -- it's fun to see other people's pics and discover photo stations you might have missed. In-cabin switch giving you the OPTION to hear the non-emergency PA announcements from inside your cabin. Adults-only topless waterslide. :D Maitre' D's who take no crap. Pool security personnel who take no crap.
Cracker Ken Posted June 22, 2007 #32 Share Posted June 22, 2007 Longer cruises for sure. 10, 11, 12, or even 14 would be good. It's possible to do a back to back on a ship that alternates the E & W itinerary, but staying at sea the entire time would be better, and you could cruise longer distances, like the S. Caribbean. Forward observation lounge, like they have on the HAL and Celebrity ships. RCI has the Crown Viking Lounge. I like places like that, up high, where I can sit and watch the sea, or whatever else might be around to look at, especially if it's cold or raining outside (like in Alaska, or on Trans-Atlantic cruises). On other lines, these double as lounges at night. An area for eating outdoor, like somewhere aft would be good. I've used those areas on "X" ships in the past. Using one of the two dining rooms for casual dress for the entire cruise would be a good thing. Use the other as it is now for those who like to dress up "fit to kill while on vacation." MrsAggie Posted June 22, 2007 #36 Share Posted June 22, 2007 I'd like to see a scavenger hunt for two different days, two different teams and two different lists. Winning team gets 1 free spa treatment. A cool way to meet people without getting plastered. Christy

Crusin Karen Posted June 22, 2007 #39 Share Posted June 22, 2007 I second the observation lounge. Loved sitting up there. I'd also like a promenade like on the RCL Voyager Class ships. And those pool ladders HAVE to go.
Name game Posted June 22, 2007 #40 Share Posted June 22, 2007 I second the smoking and non-smoking cabins. I also think the casino should have a non-smoking area. This can only help the fights between the smokers and non-smokers .
enester Posted June 22, 2007 #41 Share Posted June 22, 2007 1) A true circular walking prominade. 2) Classes of some kind - any kind (cooking, culture etc) 3) Dance classes in a lounge that ends with the same themed dancing for a period of time after (so you can use it enough to remember!) 4) Extra soundproofing for staterooms possitioned under/over noisey decks. 5) Packed shore lunches that don't violate local import laws for purchase. 6) A certain amount of frig space reserved for guests rather than having to take the room stewards time making room. And other stuff......... ;)

amanda1070 Posted June 22, 2007 #43 Share Posted June 22, 2007 Better pools, bigger! Jacuzzi's with more carribean decor, a little more private. Love the idea from the other poster about the lazy river on the lido deck! unobstructed views throughout the theater! Areas where us nondrinkers can relax without being hasseled to buy drinks! More shops that sell inexpensive trinkets, not trashy though. one night of very casual dinner, shorts allowed! more activities, dance classes, cooking, etc.

heymom32000 Posted June 22, 2007 #45 Share Posted June 22, 2007 A zero entry pool (the ones where you just walk and the water gets deeper and deeper) A lazy river going around the top deck of the ship paintball area (ship provides guns and paintballs, nobody allowed to bring their own) (this would keep the kids and teens busy :D ) If not paintball then maybe lasertag or squirt guns Educational classes about the ports (not those shop talks), cooking classes, dance classes, etc. Blues music Comedy club where guest can do some standup comedy as well as professional comedians performing. Cruiseman2003 Posted June 22, 2007 #46 Share Posted June 22, 2007 I agree with the folks that believe that Carnival needs a ship in the NYC area year around. I even believe that Carnival needs to do a Western Caribbean iteniary during the summer. There is not one ship going in that area during the summer time. Carnival could really do well with something like that.
cruisejunkie15 Posted June 22, 2007 #47 Share Posted June 22, 2007 I have to second the idea of steps to the pool, or the zero entry pool, I hate the ones that they have now. Also an adults only would be nice, at least if the enforced the adult only pool and hut tub. I dont know how the lazy river would be around the ship, but I would like to see that. :) I would like to be able to order my dinner to eat in my balcony. A hot tub in my balcony would be great! non-smoking would be good too. an empty fridge, so that I can store my stuff without having to have the room stewart do it. Although some have complained about the ice machine, I would like to have an ice machine in every floor, because I have really bad luck with my room stewards. They never bring me ice,and I always have to hunt them down to get some ice in my room to chill my champagne. :( More perks for frequent cruisers, not just when you get to your 10 and above. have incentives as you progress. Freestyle dining. Or at least options for dinner, I dont want to eat at the same time every day. I would also like to be able to sit in a table for two at least one night, I like the company every other night, but usually its just me and my hubby, and we like peace and quiet on some dinners. (I am being selfish I know. :( ) Ok I will stop now, I think I have said enough. :)

Name game Posted June 22, 2007 #49 Share Posted June 22, 2007 I was just at a Marriott where the fridge was empty. It was great. I got to store all of my own stuff. crusinpsychRN Posted June 22, 2007 #50 Share Posted June 22, 2007 An all Mini-suites ship with reasonable prices. Free internet. Great idea about the pictures on the TV! A way to hear announcements in the staterooms. Beds not up against the balcony door. Why all the clamor for a bathtub? Do you really want to sit in a hundred other perople's tub? It's bad enough the floor has had about 2000 feet...
