Complaint of the Week #10

Recommended Posts

After a week of mostly very badly dressed cruisers with many very uninspired complaints, we have a clear winner on our comment cards:

"Trying to have a no-smoking section in a casino is like trying to have a no-peeing section in a swimming pool."

Brilliant.

Ha ha. I'm guessing it was a frustrated non-smoker who wrote that! (I've been in one bar, before my state barred smoking in bars, restaurants, etc, altogether, that had an effective ventilation system to keep the sections clear...but after a few years it had stopped working as well. :( )

I can see how the poor crew member selected to stop the smokers smoking may go about the job they were alloted, .....but the non peeing job ? :D

Thanks, another good one.

My two favorites, overheard while in line:

1) From a lady with a big wad of spa receipts: "I've been spending hours in the spa every day and I don't think I'm as relaxed as I should be. Please credit my charges back to me." (Her tab was somewhere around $1500 just for spa treatments.)

2)From a lady with a very young, and upset child in tow, screaming at the top of her lungs. "There's no way my son spent $250 on arcade games. I told him not to play those games because we don't believe in such things. Someone must have taken his card and charged to our account. I refuse to pay those charges, and if you try to charge me you will be hearing from my lawyer." The poor, ashen-faced child looked was obviously terrified but refused to admit he'd played in the arcade. Oh yes, he was busted, and I'd say there were even odds she'd already taken about $100 worth of those charges out of his backside.

I would have to believe her that something was amiss. The machine only allows $5 per day to be charged on a child's Sail and Sign card. (Adults are limited to $20, I think) So unless they were on a very long cruise...I don't see how $250.00 of charges for arcade tokens were run up???

It is a great comparison!

I have used a similar quotation for years, except it compared a non-smoking section in a restaurant to a peeing area in a swimming pool. Like minds must think like thoughts. Just for the fish of things...you know the 'HALIBUT!

I think I could really enjoy talking with your winner.

The cruise director on the Carnival Miracle used this quote during his debarkation talk! Great quote :D

I think Princess allows them to charge up to $20 at at a time - I'm only reporting what the lady said, maybe the kid was buying rounds of cocktails in the Wheelhouse, too. :)
