Question on postcruise train trip Venice to Florence

Recommended Posts

I know that we can take a train from Venice to Florence after our Royal Caribbean Splendour of the Sea cruise, but I do not know what is the closest train station to the Venice cruiseport, and how to get there. Any information from those who have done this would be greatly appreciated.

I believe there is only one train station, this website should give you the info and there is a map.

Pls go to the following recent thread where your question was discussed:

It is important that you ascertain where your ship docks. Most big ships dock in a port area area where your best solution is to take a land taxi to the Venice station in Mestre. If you are taking an Eurostar train it's probably a good idea to make reservation and buy tickets in advance. For that go to:

Have a great cruise and post cruise in Italy!

There are two stations which serve the cruisers. Santa Lucia station is in Venice proper. It is just feet from the Grand Canal. There is sometimes a shuttle bus to/from the port.

The other station is "Venezia Mestre" which is on the mainland just where the road to the port is. I used this station with my friend who lived in Italy when we went on a cruise. We took a taxi from and to Mestre. It was quick and easy and made boarding a breeze.
