Ichiban Nekko Posted July 1, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 1, 2007 at our home and it's a beautiful day in the Washington DC area. Will get the barbecue going later. Wish the waistline could take a Molson's ... sigh ... perhaps a "Maple Martini" (per Polar Ice vodka recipe: 1.5 oz vodka, 0.5 oz bourbon, sweetened to taste with maple syrup). Will hold off on singing, but perhaps a little background music including Canadian Railroad Triology mixed with kd lang/Michael Buble/Ian & Sylvia/etc ... you get the picture. To everyone at 'home', we wish you a very happy Canada Day! Of course, in a little over a week, we hope to be at the Martini Bar on the Century sampling ... guess what?:D

Kapricorn Posted July 1, 2007 #6 Share Posted July 1, 2007 Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians, and greetings to American friends! It's warm and sunny here in Vancouver at Noon, but rain is forecast for tonight (what else?). A couple of Vancouver rain jokes in this morning's newspaper: How can you tell it's summer in Vancouver? The rain is slightly warmer. How to tell what the weather's like in Vancouver? If you can't see the mountains, it's raining. If you can see the mountains, it's going to rain. Donald.
Ricky Chan Posted July 1, 2007 #7 Share Posted July 1, 2007 Happy Canada Day, it is 140 years old! How can you tell it's spring in Vancouver? You can ski on Grouse Mountain in the morning and play golf in the afternoon in urban gold club. Today's weather is perfect, IT IS NOT RAINING!! It's been so scarce I've forgotten what it is ... ;) Vancouver got only 165 hours of sunshine during June this year, well under the normal of 229 hours. :( Donald. CaliforniaDreamin Posted July 2, 2007 #15 Share Posted July 2, 2007 And a big thanks for the kindness of a great couple in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. It was a couple of weeks after 9/11/01. We met her on a tour in Montreal and we were taking the train to Halifax to spend a couple of days prior to flying to Boston. She left a message for us to call her when we arrived at our hotel in Halifax. I did, and was informed we were having dinner at their home with her and DH. He worked in a government building right near our hotel. We all went across the channel on the ferry, had some wine, a great dinner and conversation. When evening came she drove us across the bridge to our hotel in Halifax. We really appreciated this gesture of kindness after what had just happened in our country.
