Can't wait to hear all the great things you guys have to say about this room even tho it IS in the front of the ship. Anyone stay in this room? How about being about the Stardust Theater? hmmmmm

I have Room 8020 (right next to you) when I sail on 8/19/07. I see your room is a BD and mine is a BE. Just out of curiosity, did you book a GTY?

Thanks! Sorry to be so nosy, but this is my first cruise and I'm trying to figure out how things work. I booked in mid-January, 2007. Do you mind my asking when you booked?

We were almost right across the hall from you in 8027 in May. No noise problems at all. We didn't have any problems with motion sickness, even though there were some pretty strong winds going from Victoria back to Seattle. Just rocked us to sleep!

Deck 8 is a little weird in its layout. Instead of having the long, straight hallways that extend seemingly forever, the ones on deck 8 zig and zag. I'm sure it has to do with the way they fit the rooms in around the lifeboats. Some of them are turned the opposite way of the hallway -- with the long side parallel to the hall instead of being set in with the short end at the hallway. A little confusing at first, but you'll get used to it soon enough.

The one "complaint" we did have is that it seems like its a long, long way to the restaurants and other public areas at the back of the ship. From that far forward to the aft part of the ship seems like a mile or so -- can you tell I'm out of shape :D ? It was very convenient to get to the promenade deck from our cabin, and also up to the library and pool area.

If the room stewards haven't changed by the time you sail, we thought Gene (from the Philippines) and Authoreen (from Jamaica) were great! I had more towel animals on this trip than I have in my other 4 combined -- thanks, I'm sure, to Authoreen.

wooohooo...thanks ute_fan for the good information. Anything else would always add to the excitement. We plan on using the spa daily, which looks like pretty good access. Also, we love to find the quiet, more private places to hang. No casino or bars for us. Sounds like we might be in a pretty good spot.

Sherri,

We booked about 1 month ago.

We were in an inside, so we were really on the hunt for places to hang out and watch the scenery. Deck 7 is wonderful for scenery viewing -- and I was pleasantly surprised at how uncrowded it was most of the time. They have very comfortable lounge chairs, with pads about 2 or 3 inches thick on them (not all of them have the pads -- hunt for the ones that do), and in Alaska, they put nice blue fleece blankets out for you to bundle up in.

The library is a nice, quiet, underutilized area too. Most of the seating is just chairs -- and some of it is far enough from the window that you don't have great viewing. There's one smallish couch in front of the window -- it became my personal viewing spot, especially while the nightly shows were on. I frequently had the library all to myself.

If you're planning on purchasing the spa pass, I think there are good places there to hang out also. The tile lounge chairs are interesting, but I'm too short, and they weren't terribly comfortable for me -- the curves aren't in the same place as my curves are.

If you can get a spot, the "beds" in spinnaker lounge are great. It was hard to find a spot on them, however. They were almost always occupied.

Have a wonderful time! I'd go back again in a heartbeat if I could.
