brian_uk Posted July 8, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2007 There are reports in the UK press that passengers are not being allowed to leave the P & O Ships in Libya if they have Israeli Stamps in their passports. Has anyone been affected. Brian
BenMurphy Posted August 8, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2007 True enough, look on Expedia under Visa's. Israel does not recognise Libya and Vice/versa! Get a duplicate passport before you go
Globaliser Posted August 8, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2007 Timatic (the airlines' database for passport and visa information) confirms this.
Druke I Posted August 8, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2007 That issue has impacted passengers on several cruise lines, and there have been posts about the problem on specific cruisde line forums. Some people with dual citizenship and two passports have gotten around the problem; but in some cases, the cruise line cancelled the stop to avoid the hassle and issue. Brian Raine Posted August 9, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2007 Passengers with Isralie passports or Isrealie stamps in passports are not allowed ashore , also US passport holders were not allowed ashore on our Costa cruise earlier this year.everyone else was welcomed with open arms and allowed to wander around the town without let or hindrance. The museum was interesting as was the Souk. At one jewellery shop, which was closing, we were invited to accompany the owner to the Mosque for prayers. We declined saying I was not a Muslim "No matter" he said "Allah knows all of us" It was a very polite gesture , we thought.

dak Posted August 10, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 10, 2007 Leptimus Magma is the big draw in Libya. Just to avoid confusion. I think you'll find it's "Leptis Magna" David :)
