Questions for Avalon Poetry cruisers

Does the Poetry have bathroom amenities like on the large ships?

Hair dryer, shampoo, lotions, robes?

What kind of outlets for a battery charger?

We are leaving from Budapest. Anyone know what time the bus departs for the ship?

We were on the Poetry last October. The hair dryer was in the bedroom, soap /shampoo, an all in one in the bath. Don't remember having lotion or robes. My DH used his shaver in the bath with no problems. He could plug in his charger in the bedroom with the converters we brought. The bus left for the boat around 3:30 or so, we did the optional horse show, ( not that great) and they took us directly to the boat. Others had to check out of their rooms, but could leave hand luggage at the desk. We loved everything about the Poetry. The ship was very clean, cabins serviced twice a day. We thought the food was very good, and the free wine with dinner, what's not to like. Staff was friendly and helpful, but not always in your face for a tip. You will have a great time, sure wish we were going with you. Any other questions, just ask.

msmeltz,

All European river cruise ships do have 230V with European outlets (round prongs). Chargers for digital equipment usually do work with 110 and 230V (read the label on the charger). But you will need an adapter for the prongs.

110V outlets in the bathroom usually are for shavers and toothbrushes only (low wattage).

Thanks for the prompt answers.

more questions.....

Does the ship have card games or board games for those quiet evenings?

Was there any entertainment?

Were there tours all day or did they have morning and afternoon tours and come back for lunch?

Was there any any food available between lunch and dinner

or do I bring my own snacks?

and also, are there refrigerators in the cabins?

Many people were playing cards in the lounge, not sure if they brought their own. There were a few board games available. For sure there was Scrabble because we played that. Most walking tours were in the morning. They lasted about 1-1 1/2 hours, then free time before going back to the ship for lunch. Most afternoons we were sailing, or docked to enjoy more free time. There was some fruit at the Reception and cookies at tea time. Evening entertainment was a piano player in the lounge and one night the crew show. With all the walking and late dinners, we were usually in bed by 9:30. There is a mini frig in the room. We kept it stocked with our own drinks.

They have books, games, and I think cards for the passengers to use on the Poetry. Some evenings, we had additional entertainment (cookie making demo, beer tasting, Bavarian brass band, string trio, string quartet). I think the only day we didn't eat lunch on the boat was on our tour of Salzburg. We chose to stay in Vienna for lunch there, but could have gone back to the boat. We really didn't find that we needed any food between lunch and dinner, but they had an afternoon cake and tea session every day, and there was usually a tray of fruit around, too. And yes, there are fridges. You may have to take some things out to fit snacks, but our housekeeper didn't seem to care.
