The midnight buffet on the Dawn is only on one night and it is a "Chocoholics Buffet." All kinds of goodies made from chocolate. NCL does not have a midnight food buffet, although I believe one line of the main buffet stays open through midnight with burgers, dogs and chicken nuggets. There is also the Blue Lagoon diner type restaurant with potatoe skins and the like which is open 23 hours.

In the past, there has been a snack buffet, sandwiches, fresh fruit and veggies and dip, cookies and finger desserts, etc. served in the casino at about 11:00 pm. It is set up for about an hour. Does it still exist?

The traditional "midnight buffet" is a thing of the past on most cruise lines as food is often available 24/7 at other venues. Most lines have gone to one gala buffet during the cruise. NCL's just happens to be a chocolate buffet, which is sometimes served in the afternoon depending on the ship. To the best of my recollection, Carnival is the only cruise line that still has daily midnight buffets, but I may be wrong.

It sure does!! We took part every night on our 6/16 sailing. And, we went to Blue Lagoon, too. They have the best fish n chips I've ever eaten!

Oh, BTW, the chocolholic buffet is no longer at midnight. It was around 2:00 in the afternoon on the last sea day when we went.

The day of the Midnight Buffet is gone on NCL. The Chocolate Buffet is on the last sea day at 2:00pm. There are late night snacks in the Casino and one of the buffet lines stays open late. The Blue Lagoon (fast food) is open 23 hours a day. NCL offers 24 hour Room Service. The main restaurants are open until 10:30pm.

There plenty time to get food throughout the day & night.

Happy Cruising,

Monty

The Chocolate buffets actually are a different times on different ships. On the Star in 2005, the Chocoholic buffet alternated. One week it was at 2:00 on the last sea day, the next it was at 11:30 p.m. the second to last night of the cruise. It still varies from ship to ship, but I believe most are still late at night.

Thanks for the info Keystone. The OP was talking specifically about the Dawn. I think that itin. in October will be the same one we just took last month. I'm sure it varies depending on schedules, etc. But, in the last 2 years and 3 cruises I've been on (I know it's not many) all the choco buffets were in the mid-afternoon.

I understand why the Midnight Buffet no longer exists... when eating late and finishing dinner around 10 PM, who could eat more at midnight?

Now, early diners may well be hungry at the midnight hour, but there are plenty of places to get a snack.
