Sueell Posted July 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2007 We will be travelling on Brilliance with a 18 months old baby, starting three nights in Venice, then 7 night cruise to Barcelona. Any tips for us? We have cruised before, but not with our grandson. Help!!
cb at sea Posted July 15, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 15, 2007 Just know that he won't be able to use any of the pools, unless he's potty-trained. No swim diapers allowed! Make sure you have a stroller! (Preferably, a small, foldable one) You don't want to have to carry a child that size all the time! Other than that, it will be just like on land! 18 months is too young to really appreciate any of the ship's amenities or activities.
Happy ks Posted July 15, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 15, 2007 Hopefully his parents are along as well :p Take turns, give each other some break time, allow time for naps (for baby and adults). I think a vacation with a little one can be a rewarding experience as long as you adjust to his schedule and not expect him to adjust to yours. Have a fun cruise :)
powelweb Posted July 15, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 15, 2007 You might want to check out the "family cruising" board under special interests- lots of good tips there. We sailed with our DD when she was 13 months- other posters are correct that there aren't many activities for toddlers on board. RCCL does have the playtime sponsored by fisher price where a lounge will be open for 45 minutes for each age group (0-18 months and 19-36 months) with toys available for play. These tend to be early am (8 or 9am) and it is not a drop off session- parents must stay and supervise their child. As other posters mentioned, set your expectations appropriately and you will be fine. happy sailing wendy
